Starting ET Without A Mod

My apologies for posting another thread, but I really do want to know how to do this. While I enjoy playing the mods that are available, I’d like to go back to “vanilla” and enjoy that as well. I can’t seem to get the game to play without mods. I tried adding “+set fs_game etmain” to my shortcut, no go. Any ideas?

Hello, the mod depends on the server you connect to.
Look on splatterladder.com to find servers running etmain ( http://et.splatterladder.com/?mod=serverlist and choose etmain for “Show mod” )

yeas, there are not many etmain servers online if that’s what you mean.
You should try an etpro server if you want vanilla. If I remember correct, etpro doesn’t add any new “smart” features or new weapons or anything like that, it just cleans up all the ancient asshole exploits that makes etmain unplayable anyway.

Out of curiosity, what types of things does etpro clean up?

Nothing, but official matches are played on ETpro and there aren’t things like double jump, low gravity, etc

well, I’m more experienced with etmain. etmain has all kinds of flaws, like suicides (/kill) not counting as a death, so players can suicide in a dogfight to build stats & not give xp to the enemy. This is one of the most low exploits ever (was it fixed in the 2.60 update or do you still need a mod?)
Chargebar is 100% full after a death / suicide, so panzernoobs fire 1 panzer, /kill, fire 1 panzer, /bind mouse3 kill, etc. There are many more but these two are enough to turn many, many players into drooling dimwits that only seek to demean you in the most nasty way possible.
Got off from a bad start and died more than you killed? - just visit spectators to erase your bad K/D stats and start over.
I love to get complaints when a teammate walks into my mines and dies, especially if he did it on purpose - same with well-placed arty & dynamite.
No push/shove, so expect to get a complaint when you kill the dimwit that is blocking the exit.
