Starcraft II

I wouldn’t compare what your doing to TLO lol… WhiteRA is not gimmicks either lmao. A lot of their game play is creative in that they do unexpected things, but what they are doing makes sense most of the time. Slush is another example of creative game play, in fact almost every pro SC2 player is extremely creative (just some more consistently than others). I could do something very weird and complex and it could work in silver league against someone who is illiterate at the game hahaha… doesn’t mean it’s ever going to work at all higher up. There’s being unpredictable and then there’s being logical… you don’t have to follow things to the dot or play the same every time, but what your doing better make sense. Post your demos on Team Liquid and see how that rolls over . “Forever Silver”

FUNNY NOTE:

So I just reinstalled today, and my masters friend had been troll laddering in silver on my account this season; that’s where you resign all your last 3 placements. He was on a 20+ win streak with no losses using the most nonsensical builds you can imagine. “[12:55] raccoon: that kind of stuff is why I love silver, lol”

Another trick that works is simply let your scouting drone do a proxy hatch inside his base. He’s usually too absorbed with his own cheese to notice yours.[/QUOTE]

Until mid-higher gold league when everyone learns how to properly scout their base for proxies.

Pure win!

Proxy hatch is very good though against a forge fast expanding toss. It gets frequently used by catz in that way  It works in GM, and in all lower leagues (in this special situation).

Sometimes i even wait for my 15 hatch to get canoned :stuck_out_tongue:

(INF3RN0) #124

The one-time hat tricks do work sometimes, yes. If the opponent isn’t making any mistakes though, then they don’t. Even GM pros accidentally blow up their own command centers at MLG .

(acQu) #125

Believe me, it is just ** strong. It is very underestimated. I watch catz stream very often, and it works like 100% of the time i see it there. Even when they scout the hatch, what are you going to do about it. You are toss and just forge expanded, you can only take all your probes and try to kill the hatch (lol)(then you simple cancel :stuck_out_tongue: it takes very long to kill a building hatch with X probes, lost mining time puts you behind). Other way is to put a canon beside the proxy hatch and invest some unwanted minerals and try to kill the spawning larvae with the canon lol. Ok this sometimes works.

But you will be surprised, that hatch did go up unscouted like 100% of the times i did it (like 10 times ?), it worked against plat/dia toss that way, and those guys REALLY should know how to scout, no ?

Even wonder if catz did this strat at MLG. Unfortunately his games do not make it to the main stage often :frowning:

The actual LAN tourneys are a lot different than ladder matches because it’s best 2/3 and all your opponents can see your strats. Ladder play turns out much different. A few cannons work well to counter a proxy hatch if you see it early enough, from my experiences they surrender when it get’s spotted immediately. Then again it’s just a good counter to a forge expand, which not everyone chooses to do on the maps that it works on.

edit:

He went for early roach/bling/ling which I scouted and I went forge fast expand, with sentry stalker immortal.
He tried to attack natural expansion, which got forcefielded off. I went warp prism with zealots at his natural, they took that out and expanded based on infernos 7 minute rule. Just before I was about to attack, I realised he would/should have gone burrow, so I had to wait for an observer otherwise it would have finished quicker. He didnt have burrow though : /

double edit:

Next game on metalopolis I faked a forge fast expand in a pvp, but instead I 4gated with 2 proxy pylons. I put a bit of pressure on his expansion, and which he barely defended and this prompted him to play defensive. He killed off the first pylon and teched up to collosus.

I had an observer at his ramp, and saw him keep all his units protecting his natural… so I went warp prism at the back (where he should have had at least a pylon to give him vision)… and collected chargelots. I used the other pylon as a fake 4gate frontal attack, so i had a few units there which i knew he would eventually scout.

When he scouted the fake frontal attack and used all his units, the chargelots went to town on his main.
When he moved all units to the main to protect, I dropped at his natural. I kept an observer on his main army the whole time, so I would attack with cheap units when he would keep moving out buying me time to make a decent army at home.

tldr: he ragequit after his 7 collosus got destroyed at my main

Nice one Humate!

I am glad you wouldn’t because you have no idea what I’m doing.

in fact almost every pro SC2 player is extremely creative

Well yeah they need to be entertaining. Doesn’t take away from the fact that you can 4gate your way to grandmaster. Ladders simply punish those that experiment.

Anyway, this completely irrational reverence of the ladders is just typical, I wouldn’t have expected anything else from you.

The one-time hat tricks do work sometimes, yes. If the opponent isn’t making any mistakes though, then they don’t.

SC is all about mistakes. The side that makes the least mistakes wins.

Yet another game your more intelligent than I, yet you choose to purposely be worse at playing. Ok I get it… even if I beat you, your just too smart for me to understand. What your doing is incredibly obvious, because I have done it myself. When playing a less able player, you can do something that should never work, but because they are already behind in all areas they won’t know how to stop it, or be able to for that matter, and then let you recover when you should not be able to. The game has been played so much that most strats have already been discovered and fine tuned, but once your putting your strats up against the gm’s or even masters, hell even diamonds or plats, is when you can actually see if what your doing is smart or is working just because your playing that paraplegic SC2 player. There are times where certain strats work to strongly counter another (4gate is a good counter to lots of all-ins), but that’s not the point anyway. Like I said, break down your builds and post em on TL for some professional opinions on your intelligence…

(tokamak) #130

Okay, let’s have a couple of rounds then.

(tokamak) #135

I find it flattering.

(Humate) #136

^lol i did at the time, but the funny thing was all I did was mothership.
He went for fast carriers and voidrays off 1 base and stuck to it the whole game while i was on 5 bases : /

Did you and inferno have a 1v1?
Replays kthx!

Still waiting on that PM. Me thinks he fears the inevitable trollage…

(Humate) #138

Oh! :c

:stroggtapir:

(Humate) #139

Im quite dissapoint that you guyz have not played yet. : /
In other news, why do so many lower league terrans double starport banshee, when they already see cannons on the mineral line supported with blink stalkers?

And why do so many lower league Protosses always go fast voidray, then get cannoned, then go DT as a follow up? You would think they would deviate from their build and adapt to what they see. They should promote me already imo :frowning:

I asked for an ID and he dodged. He called it a battle of the wits, but will never give me the chance to showcase that he’s all talk no walk. I guess I win by default then :).

A lot of silver-gold leaguers learn a specific build and will just stick to it no matter what. It’s avoiding learning about how to play the actual game.
