Starcraft II

Well. Not a big fan of drop play. Can you link me to Sheths game ? Against who did he play ?

The Zenio game i actually saw. I thought it was good, but i wouldn’t really recommend it to newbies. You are pretty much dependend on baneling bombs, when you play it against Terran. Also: when you drop a bunch of Roaches into T base, they usually get obliterated by just siege tanks, … that’s why i never play with drops… Maybe i should consider using it in 2v2. I am trying to finally get into masters there, but i am totally lost and stuck in Dia. It is a really terrible league. When you start loosing and then playing agains Plats again, you really see a complete different playstyle, which is: camping on 1 base ? And pushing at around/to 10 minute mark. This really sux as Z, as you have to know when to build units, and when not. 2v2 as Zerg is very hard imho. It is really terrible if you try to play for macro, and when you go 10 pool, your teammate mostly just expands, and then counter push kills him, and me … such a potential for heartattacks lol

Also: when you drop a bunch of Roaches into T base, they usually get obliterated by just siege tanks, … that’s why i never play with drops… tech gets delayed as well …Maybe i should consider using it in 2v2. When you start loosing and then playing agains Plats again, you really see a complete different playstyle, which is: camping on 1 base ? And pushing at around/to 10 minute mark. Also, you kinda have to know what they are doing, and scouting is not enough there, because they are so bad and doesn’t even know what they do themself, so how are you supposed to read anything there  I mean at around Dia, you can at least scout the front, and ‘kinda’ read what might come, and then prepard. But at lower leagues you are like totally screwed. There will always be some weird shenigans coming, you can bet a hundred dollar bet on this. This really sux as Z imho, which have to be reactive, and you have to know when to build units, and when not. That’s why i find 2v2 is very hard as Z. For the very same reason i don’t like playing in lower leagues as well. I just cheese them, and hope it works lol . Also, it is really terrible if you try to play for macro in 2v2. Most maps are even totally anti-macro style, with exes either blocked, or totally far away …, and when you then go 10 pool, your teammate mostly just expands, and then counter push kills him, and me … such a potential for heartattacks lol

O_O  I mean at around Dia, you can at least scout the front, and ‘kinda’ read what might come, and then prepare. But at lower leagues you are like totally screwed. You are pretty much dependent on baneling bombs, when you play it against Terran, and when T reached critical mass of marines, then your ovis just splat…Maybe Zenio played that style, because he knew Kas is a ****ing hellion bitch  (ups sorry, but yeah he uses ALOT OF HELLIONS VERY VERY OFTEN). The sheth game was against polt @ mlg on antiga

(acQu) #188

Ah, ok i see what he did there  Indeed nice, but Sheth played it with some save infestors behind. The situation i was refering to is playing drop as your first key tech. Sheth made about 6 infestors at the back, so he could be considered save and he could afford it (3 base, good eco).

However, i still think it is a huge investment. And the investment/payoff (don’t know how to say it in english), is not so good. Take for example a 2 Rax, Bunker Rush. The T can play this, because he has a big chance that this will work/payoff aka makes huge damage (or better: “terrible, terrible damage” :D). And if it fails, he is not considerably behind. As Zerg this story is a bit different imho …

But k, Sheth played that really well!

(Humate) #189

Yeh tokamak was only joking anyway, so the details dont really matter.
And investment / payoff is fine… another way of saying it is risk / reward.

(Apples) #190

isnt tradeoff the word?

(Humate) #191

yes thats fine too…

(Apples) #192

Learn english with starcraft ^^

(tokamak) #193

Or any game. Seriously my English used to be terrible, worst in my class. Then the internet came and especially the online games and their forums made me surpass everyone.

Only grammar and spelling needs to be 100%.
Vocab is not so important

Terran:

[ul]
[li] Shredder is gone[/li][li] Warhound is gone (Not 100% sure)[/li][li] If Thor stays in the game, they think about giving it an anti-air “spider mine”[/li][li] Extreme long ranged missile launcher (to break siege lines for example)[/li][/ul]

Protoss:

[ul]
[li] Replicant is gone[/li][li] Nexus recall[/li][li] They don’t feel that Protoss needs the anti-air splash damage from the Tempest anymore (because of the Phoenix upgrade)[/li][li] Tempest is a long-ranged aerial siege unit for ground and air[/li][/ul]

Zerg:

[ul]

[li]Viper can only blind biological units (Blinded units have a Range of 1)[/li][li] Viper can regain energy from Minerals (prevents the mineral patch from being harvested)[/li][li] Viper will be a pure caster unit[/li][li] Overseer stays and may get some changes[/li][li] Experimenting with different kinds of Nydus worms (Nydus that attacks buildings, Nydus for creep spread (creep highway))[/li][/ul]

edit: copy and paste job

Just reinstalled this weekend and played some 3v3 random. Was just about to rank up to diamond when I noticed our whole team was on eco mode and we were about to get hit by a 4gate/m&m all-in :O! Thankfully protoss are op and forcefields save lives (with the help of a siege tank) xD; bought us enough time for the eco whores to get out them carriers/thors.
