Standard Kits! Soldier & Operative

(Weeohhweeohh) #1

Sorry if this has been posted already!
This is from the new video Ready and Able

Standard Soldier Kit:
Soldiers complete Destruction objectives using an HE Charge, and can resupply their teammates’ ammo, as well as their own. Soldiers also carry Molotov Cocktails by default, giving them more grenade power than any other class.

Standard Operative Kit:
Operatives can complete Hack Objectives and disguise themselves as Downed enemies. This disguise lasts until you interact with an objective, fire a weapon or are hit by an enemy homing Beacon. Enemies may suspect you, but can’t be sure without actually killing you. If an enemy sees you in the act of disguising, your disguise will also fail.

you wrote the description for Comms Hack description under Standard Operative Kit.

Woops…tried to time my pause correctly like 10 times and failed. I’ll fix it.

Edit: There we go!

(Humate) #4

Medic - Revive
Engie - Defuse
Soldier - HE Charges
Opertaive - Hack

Comms Hack isn’t the standard. It is one to the right of the standard. The Standard Operative is the disguise icon:

“Operatives can complete Hack Objectives and disguise themselves as Downed enemies. This disguise lasts util you interact with an objective, fire a weapon, or are hit by an enemy Homing Beacon. Enemies may suspect you, but can’t be sure without actually killing you. If an enemy sees you in the act of disguising, your disguise will also fail.”

EDIT: Dammit! Ninja’d again!

Ya, my bad. Not enough coffee and trying to fire this out quick.

Seems like for soldier, HE charges AND ammo replenishment does not need to be on one of the 3 active ability buttons. Molotov cocktails, even though they are standard in the kit, need to be mapped. Interesting.

I would venture to say that, of course hacking objectives, but also disguising does not need to be mapped. I could be terribly wrong though.

The reason (I think) ammo doesn’t need to be mapped to a slot, is because it used dynamically - the game will prompt you to use it when you are close to teammates, rather than being able to just toss ammo packs on the ground. Same goes healing and certain buffs.

I was thinking along the same lines.

Medic - Revive, heal
Engie - Defuse, repair
Soldier - HE Charges, ammo replenish
Opertaive - Hack, disguise

Brings an interesting dynamic to character planning. I also thought it was interesting that any buff after the first one (ie: life buff 2) requires more pips, but also disallows you to give it to yourself. Which makes sense because giving yourself a buff (life buff 1) makes you use 2 pips.

Edit: Just speculation

yeah but you need to be able to give yourself ammo too.

My thinking is that if you aren’t targeting anyone and you hit the button tied to your Standard kit, you give yourself ammo. Though I don’t think you can give yourself upgraded ammo. Seeing as you cannot give yourself life buff2+/upgrade weapon 2+ (medic/engineer respectively).

(H0RSE) #11

Giving yourself ammo/health is separate action, tied to a separate button. On console, it is push LS by default, whereas giving ammo/buffs to players is the X button (on xbox)

(Shadedluck) #12

Anyone else notice the silenced shotgun? That’s a new twist for me.

(Humate) #13

No, but I noticed the plastic looking aeroplane. cough

(Weeohhweeohh) #14

Was it a shotgun or a light rifle? I guess I’ll have to re-watch the video again…for the 25th time =D

(Shadedluck) #15

It put out a shotgun shell and it sounded like one, only muffled. I don’t know of any light rifles that spray multiple bullets per shot.

(Weeohhweeohh) #16

Indeed. I just re watched. The gun also had shot guns shells strapped to the side.

(Shadedluck) #17

That’s gonna be cool, though it seems kind of ironic.

(PariahDog) #18

Also seems like the guy got OHKO’d by the shotgun at melee range.

(Weeohhweeohh) #19

Couldn’t really see what happened after he fell though. There maybe a incapacitation animation then you actually go into the incapacitation state.

(DarkangelUK) #20

Or they just shot him when he was at low HP for wow factor, doesn’t really make for a good vid to pummel someone dead on with a shotty and he just turns round and scratches his ass.
