Standard Kits! Soldier & Operative

(Jess Alon) #21

Yeah that would be a momentum killer for the video. Plus one for your rep old pal.

(Mad Hatter) #22

My only question is this: If the molotov ability comes standard for Soldiers, does that mean that they get an extra buyable ability or do they just have one less thing to purchase compared to the other classes?

(PariahDog) #23

They have another purchasable ability. Looking at the video Soldier has 1 blank space in his skill list. Operatives have 2 blank spots. Engineer has 1 (gun buff eats a skill slot?) and Medic has 2 blanks.

I like the Engineer and Opertaive Classes.

(Weeohhweeohh) #25

gonna put points into enhance the control point (engineer) then switch class and firewall the control point (operative) then back to engineer. Bank some major xp.

They are probably both mapped to the same key, i.e. the use key, which is context sensitive. I suspect most of the the buffs are as well.

Re the shotgun damage, I think they are one hit kills from close range. That seemed to be the response from the devs the last time it came up (even though they previously said no one hit kills*). Personally I have no problem with it so long as shotguns just totally suck from medium range or greater.

*Possibly now just falling back on semantics: there are no one hit kills because there are no insta gibs, you always go to incapacitated state regardless of how much damage you soak up. But it’s still effectivly a one shot kill no matter what you call it.

True its not a kill as in “back to the spawn queu with you” but instant down but meh.

Does remind me of a question I was wondering about. I remember reading in the past that melee strikes on a downed target (either incapped or knock down) is lethal. Does that mean after eating a grenade to the face getting hit with the back end of the rifle before standing up is a “back to the spawn queue”?

If you are down, and you get melee attacked, I believe it kills you.

(Wraith) #29

That is correct.

I think you’re mistaking, that would be some vicious lie to say “no one hit kill” while thinking “yeah right cause you’re incapacitated every time”. They talk about a case of OHK, when you snipe a light body type (to the head or not, can’t remember). If at least one case exist, that means they’re not playing on semantics.

Now for the shotgun… I’ll take a leap of faith and say they’re not supposed to put down a full health guy in one shot (based on the “no OHK” rule). But I’m wondering if they have some kind of knockdown effect like the grenades… ?

(Shadowcat) #31

Or its possible that they rationalized shotguns by the fact that its not one shot, its a spray of pellets. If you make all of them land and kill a guy, its not much different than a burst from an SMG landing all its shots.

Or it could be the fact that getting killed by a shotgun in one hit isn’t nearly the buzzkill that being one hit from across the map is. When you’re killed from a range, it feels like there’s nothing you could have done. When you’re killed by a guy with a shotgun who is next to you, you feel guilty for letting him get that close.

Makes sense, but I’m still not convinced
