After ive seen the movie Enemy at the gates i was wondering… why not make a Stalingrad map?
Just an idea for map creators… :notworthy:
Stalingrad?
Heh I used to play the old SPI boardgame Stalingrad, amazing the fun that can be had rolling lots of dice and moving bits of cardboard around
Although in concept not really much different, “Stalingrad: the ET map” may be politically inadvisable, as lots of people could (understandably) be upset by it.
It would be a lot of fun playing such a game, though
well, as there are no russian allies in ET it would be a little strange fo fight with US boys in Stalingrad
Oh well, the beginning of Oasis gets close to Stalingrad, many ways to go, many places to hide
i’m 20% through a stalingrad- themed massive city fight (think two of the current maps)
That would be kind of cool if they added the Russians in on certain maps. They could have different weapons, Russian accents and you could have the whole soviet flag thingy…
And you have to remember that this game isn’t going for historical accuracy… The allies use a lot of german weapons like panzerfaust, FG42, and mg42… and the fact that the nazis have their wolfenstien flag rather then swastika, and that there’s a black dude working with a bunch of other white guys even though they were segregated…
And because they aren’t exactly going for historical accuracy, wouldn’t it be cool (if they added in the Russians) if you could have three seperate teams fighting each other?
Hey Coolhand, you ever play Squad Leader, lots of cardboard counter fun !!!
I played it like a fool in the 80’s when I was in high school.
I had thought about making a map for RTCW that incorporated some of SL like objectives. Luckily, ET came out and saved me from terragen hell.
I am in love w/ the revised objective based aspects of ET, and its exactly what I had envisioned as the perfect FPS. Its exactly what RTCW needed.
Thnx SD, you rock!
Oh yes. I also played “Sniper”. I still recall one early game of that (when I was a newbie but before that term had been coined) when I snuck inside one building that had three cardboard counter enemies inside… threw a grenade at them… then my opponent pointed out that they were already dead. Ah, what fun
