Sprint to cancel Reload and Objective actions.

(PixelTwitch) #1

Currently when reloading I need to wait for the animation to finish or try and switch weapon (for weapons like the sniper rifle this does not always work).

I also find myself getting stuck doing an objective quite often (planting bombs and hacking the most common) I would love to just be able to tap sprint or even ADS key to cancel what I am doing and return to a shootable stance ASAP.

Something of a bonus I would love to see is having the reload movement speed around the half way point between normal movement and sprinting speed. I find the sudden momentum drop kinda jarring…

I think maybe even allowing Shotguns to reload at full sprint speed would be a decent move.

What I would like to see is have the C4 be an item you place down at the objective and have to arm with the objective item just like wolfenstein ET.
However, this would complicate objectives even more which is what they are trying to avoid… :frowning:

I agree that it should be possible to interrupt the the animation while reloading (or planting C4), but is it not enuff to switch weapon, to interrupt it? Works for me. (I did not know that for some weapons, like the sniper rifle, it does not always work. Will test that.)

I think sprint should not cancel reload. (Sprint cancelling reload has been discussed herealso.)

Sprint cancelling reloads will be coming as a user option at some point.

Why not simply just have hitting the reload button again mid-reload cancel it?

very good point.

NOOOOO! Do not make my need MORE muscle memory! lol
I was just thinking in my head how strange that would feel to have to do.

i just switch weapons

(PixelTwitch) #9

on certain weapons when you have 0 ammo left it will not let you switch weapons currently. It makes you finish the animation then switches the weapon.

Also when you have 15 - 20 shots left in the clip before you started the reload its frustrating to not be able to cancel and use them

Lol are senile or??? Just hitting the same key again seems less problematic than accidentally sprint canceling reloads all the time because most people would likely hit sprint accidentally from instinct.

Hence why it should be an option.

Na, I just mean I am so used to other games with sprint to cancel reload (Call of Duty Series) I would get into the habbit of doing the wrong one at the wrong time. Also I have a nasty habbit of multi tapping “R” already due to games like Left 4 Dead where you always want to be reloading and Insurgency where with shotguns you need to hit reload for each shell you want to reload

(BAMFana) #13

Allow binding of several functions to one key. Add a keybind for “cancel reload”, default key same as default key for sprint. Rebind as you please.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner.

(PixelTwitch) #15

I actually considered this before my previous post however… I was stuck on the idea that if bound to reload and cancel reload on R it would simply not Reload >.<

(DJswirlyAlien) #16

Shouldn’t be. Pretty basic programming would be able to make the cancel reload context sensitive so it would only cancel while you are reloading.

(DarkangelUK) #17

Or you know, just allow reloading while sprinting

Best solution !
