Splash Damage - You better not do this!

(aaarrm) #1

tbh, I don’t expect you guys to do this, because you’re not like “the other guys” (which is a compliment)

I was looking at upcoming games and all of their CE’s have exclusive in-game extra’s which really pisses me off. Such as the upcoming Assassin’s Creed CE has 2 exclusive single player maps. And CoD: Black Ops’ CE has 4 co-op levels not playable with the standard edition. It makes meh so angry! In essence their trying to bribe us to just spend more money on their game.

(tokamak) #2

All of Brink’s (gameplay) content is supposed to be playable online, keeping content reserved for a few privileged seems like a huge waste of resources.

(Cankor) #3

Then too, there is the tactic where they release (unlock, it’s usually already there) additional content/map packs but if you have bought the game used you are SOL. Sounds like in Steam you can’t re-sell your game though? If so, then that’s probably a moot point.

(engiebenjy) #4

I doubt brink would have maps that were exclusive. An exclusive weapon or two would be possible but I think clothing is more likely because that doesnt effect gameplay.

I understand why companies do it - and they will continue to as long as they sell - but i think we all agree it sucks.

(Mustkunstn1k) #5

Well they have the clothing items and weapons. And yes I hate these do.

I wish I could just buy all of them for 5/10 bucks like a few months after release. Or even even free. This way the people who preordered just get to use them before / don’t have to pay for them. Or maybe like each little pack is 2 dollars so people who preordered saved 2 dollars.

I hate when devs put in content that not everyone can have. Specially for a multiplayer game.

(AnthonyDa) #6

You mean like exclusive pre-order weapon & outfit ?
D’oh!

(tokamak) #7

Yeah now highlight the prior part of the sentence as well, underline the word ‘gameplay’, sit back and let things slowly click together. You’ll get there eventually.

(AnthonyDa) #8

Now tell me how exclusives weapons aren’t affecting the gameplay.

(Say “YES” to justice!)

(tokamak) #9

If that weapon has different stats than those obtainable in game then Splash Damage are a bunch of sell-outs.

(Nikto) #10

what do 2guns matter?
as for selling pre-order stuff after a few weeks, why would they have said it’s the way to see who was there from the start, if they’ll make it available through payment to everyone, after a mere few weeks?

(Achtung) #11

Im not sure but they may just be gun skins that are special. At least i hope so.

(Zanchile) #12

only with doom and fallout packs

(tokamak) #13

Having two extra guns with different stats means you would have extra options and therefore an advantage over the rest. Even if it were a slight advantage it would still be a cheap thing to do. I sincerely hope those are just skins/models.

(Nikto) #14

must be me, cuz i can’t see how having 2more balanced guns than most others gives me an advantage.
if i’d even have 2, more probably is i only have one. wich is a smg or revolver, both lightweight guns…

i’d say you were right if they were more powerfull than the other guns but, as far as i know, they’re not

(AnthonyDa) #15

quoted for the future.

Just having two balanced but different guns means you’ve got more choice, which means you can better fine-tune your setup. Money just shouldn’t ever have an impact on the gameplay, not in multiplayer games.

@AnthonyDa, you better keep me to it

(brbrbr) #17

who cares ?
about customers.
except customers.

pre-order doesn’t cost more i think? so it’s not money that has an impact, it’s being there from the start.

releasing it later with a price tag attached, that is when money has an impact on the gameplay

It is still about money. For retailers there’s a value attached to pre-ordering your game.

(DarkangelUK) #20

I’m sure all the pre-order bonuses are up to Bethesda and not SD
