Doesn’t make them any less of a sell out if they go along with that. A different gun model, sure, but different statistics are about gameplay, and it’s SD being responsible for the gameplay, not Bethesda. For now of course I think better of them than to do that.
Splash Damage - You better not do this!
i still don’t see what’s the big deal about most people not having one or two guns some other people do have.
i doubt many would use them any way. but if it means that much, i wouldn’t mind seeing the exact same stats on a different smg and revolver…
A gun that sounds and looks different is not a problem. But having exclusive access to one with different properties is. It might not be a big unbalancing factor but in principle you shouldn’t be able to ‘buy’ in-game advantages. You might want to ask yourself where you would draw the line, I draw it here.
Those that buy them should be drawing the line. It’s been said time and again, if people keep paying for it, then companies will keep doing it… can’t blame publishers for capitalizing on the ones who are easily parted with their money. I wonder how much say SD have in what Bethesda give as exclusivities… I doubt SD can just outright refuse.
Sure, and it won’t be stopping me from buying the game either, in the same vein, it won’t stop me from calling those responsible sell-outs. And that includes developers who conform to producers regarding the corruption of gameplay content as it would piss all over their philosophy of balance.
i’m gonna pre order but i still hope for a dlc package. i understand how people would say its stupid to have it come out later and how people would think its stupid to have to pay for it, but im good as long as its not exorbitantly expensive. i think that the opportunity for more weapons and archetypes should be open to those who didn’t pre-order and also to those who wanted more than one dlc pack.
So you’re as hypocritical as those involved, you’ll shout out against it, but welcome the gain. You have a such a limited view of the market as a consumer, that your accusations are blind and hold no water… nothing worse than someone name calling when all they can see is the tip of the iceberg and ignorantly believe that’s all there is to be seen.
How much of a stat change are counting towards imbalance and sell-out status? As far as I was aware, they’re unique reskins of existing guns… visual aesthetics.
I know perfectly well how these things work. And I recognise that I have very little power as a consumer and even less as a forum member. And yet I retain my right to speak out against it, as it’s the only thing I can do.
Your second point does make me wonder if you’ve followed the past discussion at all as I’ve repeated that very same like a broken record in this thread. There’s no problem with visual exclusivity. We’re talking about stats, and every gun with the slightest different statistics is one too many.
And again (I might as well keep repeating myself, maybe one day the point hits home), I still hold good faith in SD that they’re above such ploys.
Thats what he is saying.
If they are merely reskins and have different sounds there is no problem, but if money buys better weapons then thats unbalancing the gameplay.
Holy phuck. if people on PC start hoping for DLCs, wi r doomd 4 sure.
To think that what once was merely a patch content now is thinning your wallet.

i can say nothing about this apart from the fact that i agree.

That just brings me back to the point of ‘a fool and his money are easily parted’. If people buy it, they’ll charge for it.
The thing is, the people who buy the ‘vanilla’ version are affected by this as well without it being the fool’s problem.
I’m not discussing who’s affected by it, simply stating that if people keep buying it then they’ll keep charging for it.
i tried to make everyone refrain from buying those mw2 mappacks…
ever noticed that when you tell someone he shouldn’t throw his money away for such a minor thing, he’ll definetely buy it?
And if you see the game itself as an overarching system, then it’s not hard to see how for the overall integrity of the game is threatened by catering to this kind of demand. It’s blatant corruption.
Your argument could also be used for selling very powerful advantages to people. They’ll buy it, sure, they’ll even feel compelled to buy these extra’s to be able to keep playing the game normally. But it does damage the gameplay as a whole which could end up costing a whole lot more. A developer who goes along with this demonstrates that he’s willing to give up rather than to ensure the game’s integrity in order for extra money.
While we’re on the topic of extra swag, how awesome would it be if we could get little statues custom made of our Brink characters, kinda like what World of Warcraft offers.
Although it might be ridiculously expensive and way out of my price range.
Regardless, I think extra stuff should be limited to vanity. Or, at most, a jump on other people.
“You bought the special one, now you can use this before everyone who didn’t buy the special one.”, or, like Battlefield Bad Company 2 I think it was, pre-ordering meant that you didn’t have to rank up for a couple items. I think that’s acceptable.
But it should never be like “You didn’t buy the special one, YOU WILL NEVER SEE THIS ITEM WITHIN YOUR GRASP.”

werent the MW2 packs like 12 bucks?
Buying DLC? No. Follow Valve’s model of free DLC thankyou. Tripwire do it too, and even Treyarch did for WAW. Not to mention countless others. It’s just the big publishers have gotten greedy of late.
And I hardly think you’ll be getting a “better” weapon in the preorder pack. It’ll be balanced like EVERY OTHER gun in the game, so maybe the fire rate will be up and the damage will be down, or perhaps its the exact same specs as a gun that you unlock at level 8 or something, except preorder guys get it from the get go as a thanks for preordering.
Sure I’m a bit jacked that people will have access to a weapon that I’ll not get hold of, but you guys are acting as if this is a game breaking thing. It’s a gun FFS. If you’re any good at FPS then it’ll make no difference anyway. I hardly doubt SD with their reputation would put a freaking golden gun in their preorder packs!
