Splash Damage Update (SDU) - NEW!

(Paul) #1

Hello,

I have some great news, after days days making a website I contacted badman with permissions for the layout - as I based mine on SD.
After heavy discussions (not really but…) I just had to change some colors, and the background.

BUT everything is finished now, and it is accepted  :stroggbanana:

CHECK THE NEW WEBSITE!

You can create an account for replying on news items, the site isn’t done 100% done yet, there are lots of features coming up. But I have to start at the bottom so…

Anyway, if you have ANY tips or something, just tell me!
Wish us luck for making it a great website!

Well done, keep it up!

Website mysql is down, too many connections (not from me!)

Please hold on

(carnage) #8

this website recommends that you register with the same user name and password as splash damage forums? Even with the best intentions this is not good practice

(Paul) #9

You are not bound to use the same password. The reason why I actually want that u use the same username is that it’s somehow kind of linked too SD. So for example someone there steals your name and go make replies on posts with your name.

I don’t want that, that is the reason

Note: I contacted my host or they can restart mysql :open_mouth:

I see the reason why you wanted to do this, but it would have been much safer to recommend only using the same user name. I suspect if you hadn’t written anything most people would have used the same password anyway, but there is no visible advantage to using the same password if the user names are the same. And it common net safety to not give out your passwords to websites that ask for them

I don’t think there is any system you can use that is secure against someone registering with another’s user name, you just have to be vigilant
