It’s less exciting than you’d think - it isn’t much fun testing a buggy, incomplete pile of crap that crashes every five minutes, on a min-spec machine with a random array of leftover components. Or so I’m lead to believe by the cries of anguish coming from the QA Enclosure.
That, or Neil, our producer is in there with the Production Hammer again, “assigning” “tasks”.
Oh yesh, the much feared hamster computer :). It is/was so slow that QA would turn up at least 30 mins before they were supposed to, trying to get on one of the better machines before the others arrived :poke:.
Many people share your view Wils, but for some reason I think thats fun. LOL.
I’ve Beta tested many games before, After a while of running into the same bug it can get a bit annoying, but the more annoying the bug the funner the /bugreports are.
Hi, I already posted a ‘welcome’ post but anyway, I’ve been pritty interested of Quake Wars, and so I signed up here.
I’ve just been trying to get everyone on my community site (I don’t belong to a clan, we just want to have fun) so maybe they’ll host it on the Battlefield 2 server, it’s getting a bit dusty from inactivity.
Just read the job descriptions as well, I think I have the nescesary skills…
…just not the years of experience.
I want to be betatester and you don’t even have too pay me. I will do it for free
Mate, many of us would pay to be the beta testers and probably sell our grannies to do it as well!
If you guys ever need a morale booster, you could always hire me. I can be a tapir mascot and bring cheer to everyone I see, which will result in more productivity, and getting a good quality game on the shelves faster. juslaxn11@comcast.net

If that was needed I would pay with all money I got ( not that they will get rich with me money :banghead: )
There are a lot of tallented modders out there, the chances of ever getting a paid job are slim to none. You have to be really good or really lucky. If you are not either then don’t waste peoples time. I would love the texturing job but my 10+ years of amature skinning won’t help me much…
Um…mate…as long as you have a portfolio of what you can do there is every chance that you can be hired. If you think your work isn’t good enough then you probably won’t get hired. Seeing as SD were modders and map makers to begin with shows that it is possible to get somewhere in the industry.
Besides if Salteh can get hired anyone can!
Cool, thanks for the reply, a small sample of my work is in my avatar Its a model and skin I made for Vampire the Masquerade redemption. I am no pro tho and have never worked on a big game or mod (untill now, I am working on a TC for Redemption, see my site in my sig ). I am living in Africa at the moment
Hi im not sure if im posting in the right fourms here but Ya my clan would like to test out the game befor it comes out , aslo I would like to know if there is a job to test out games like this to tell the programes what wrong with this game so that thay can fix it and what not .
Iv been playing on line game for 15 years and I have not found any luck about doing this and I know many clans are willing to test it out ?
I didn’t see a note about gametesters on the jobs page yet… Tell me when there is one.
Nice try though.
I used to test games, help program, help with graphic design, make the coffee, do what nobody else wanted to do etc many years ago for a software company called Sentient Software way back in 1987/88. We programmed in Z80 mainly though there was a lad who programmed the Commadores (6502 I think iirc). We made games such as Monopoly, Risk, Scrabble, Scruples, Winter/Summer Games (the keyboard batterer lol), if any of you were about in them days you’d have prolly played at least one or two of our games.
Twas my YTS training that I did there and they were great days, indeed I learned the great game of poker there too. Left there when I went to join the Army, which was crap. Went on to become a Fire Protection Engineer until 2001, when I decided to earn a living from my hobby and became a professional karate instructor, after 4 years of that and not earning enough money (sadly) I went back into being a Fire Protection Engineer and still am one now, which is crap but it pays the bills.
I was the poor sod who had to translate the Scrabble dictionary into French, me being the obvious choice as I had once gone to France on holiday. Didn’t know any French, but had a long sheet of data to input. Worse than that, I had to do it in the bosses office, so no slacking there either
So, if you are French and played Scrabble on your ZX Spectrum, that was made entirely possible by me
erm … 15 years ??? now i’m curious. what did ya play 15 years ago on which sys and most interesting: with which network???
