(pgh) #8

Tea Boy spot has been reserved for yours truly for the past… um, 2 years now? :]

Drakir has my rec’mendation as a top notch mapper

(Boleth) #9

Could I ask what the minimum age requirement is?

(neotic) #10

This thread is such a tease. All I’ve ever wanted to do is live in london and make maps. Two years left of college, bla.

(Psycho Al) #11

You can’t legally work fulltime in the UK if you’re under 16, so there’s that.

(pgh) #12

And theres minimum wages set for 15-17’s, increases slightly at 18-20 then up again at 21. Employers, obviously, do not need to stick by the set ammounts. They are entitled to have the right to pay lower under legal circumstances, eg, such as an employees current living conditions which may mean there making more from another job. They can also offer above.

(Gringo Starr) #13

Too bad it’s in the UK, cause I’m here in New Joisey! I’ve only been mapping for a year part time anyway.

(Boleth) #14

You can’t legally work fulltime in the UK if you’re under 16, so there’s that.
HA! I’m 17 and i already live in the UK!!! so there =P
But I wanted to know if SD would employ someone under 18, I have loads of ideas for maps but am only just starting to actually map them =( so I wouldnt get the job anyway… just teasing myself really, cuz I’d love this job :banghead:

(Gringo Starr) #15

Once it becomes work, it is probably no longer fun, like everything else. Salaried game designers just want to ruin your fun by hiring you.

(L2|B4tt3rY) #16

maybe a nice ET map would be sweet

(pgh) #17

Its amazing though how many people actually read the job description.

(Gringo Starr) #18

What’s your point? lol I read it.

(pgh) #19

My point is…

And yet it clearly states:

Extensive experience with GTK or other Radiant-based editors

A strong understanding of Quake 3 technology

I somewhat feel ‘part time mapping for a year’ to be non-extensive for starters.

(Sauron|EFG) #20

I read that as if he he knew he wouldn’t get the job anyway, even if he lived in the UK, but by using the location of SD HQ as an excuse he can keep his dream alive.

And btw, being able to read job descriptions isn’t one of the requirements.
