spectator bug - mines

(bani) #1

When spectating a player in first person (as in TEAM_SPECTATOR instead of a limbo spec on your team), when they plant mines you cant see it. You can see the mine when its flying through the air, but when it hits the ground for them to arm it, its invisible.

(senator) #2

I guess that’s intentional so that a spectator can’t inform one team where the other team has planted mines. He can still see them plant but when the team he wants to instuct on how to bypass the mines approaches the spot he probably can’t remember where exactly the mines were planted.

its kind of weird to see the player arming nothing at all though.

imho the mine shouldnt disappear until its armed. after all, its not invisible while its being thrown.

anyway spectators can just join a team and tell the other team anyway, so it doesnt stop cheating.

Its definately was intended IMO.

Another bug (or feature?) is that all your mines are removed when you change the team or leave the server. While this has some advantages (you cannot defuse your own mines for XP) it also leaves the team you left w/o mine defences.

well think about why it was done for team changes. you could mine your spawns or strategic team points, then switch teams and effectively get to cheat.
