Spawn waves and spawn times. Part 19

Ok, after months of playing scrims and whatever I cannot stress how badly we need spawn waves FIXED and proper spawntimes.

Just playing camden, for the 3000th time, and yet again both teams unable to complete the objectives. Next map is LONDON BRIDGE! So once again we don’t get to play white chapel or waterloo.

Here are a few things that I and many others want to see;

  • Spawn times to CHANGE to defenders spawning every 30 seconds. Attackers spawn every 20 seconds. Not an ODD number that no one can keep track of.

  • Make sure if the player doesn’t tap out in time they have to WAIT FOR THE NEXT WAVE. Sick and tired of almost finishing an objective and people purposely not tapping so they can spawn nearer the next objective.

  • Stop with the random spawn locations! How can you plan your next attack if you all spawn in completely diffferent areas?

  • Show spawn shields with an icon above the players head… PLEASE?

  • A countdown so you can see your next wave would also be appreicated.

Right now, dirtybomb is not that good to play competitive. I have fun but I am really getting bored of playing each map for an hour and neither team finishing it. Please change these so competition can actually work!

What does everyone else feel about spawn times as they stand?

agree to all completely but you have left one thing off the list.
all the above for objective pub games to. the old system is broken due to all the reasons given in ye olde spawn wave thread.
so add that to the list and that’ll do nicely ta very much.:slight_smile:

Offense = 6 players
Defense = 0 players

if you can put defender every 30 seconds and Attackers spawn every 20 seconds.
divide by 2 = 15 & 10
and again by 2
7 1/2 & 5

should do the same result
same if you multiply by 2

We’re already talking about a lot of this stuff and will be making changes. Not exactly sure which yet, or when, but we’re certainly far from done.

If spawn waves can’t be increased then I’d suggest;

-defensive forward spawns
-more closed off objs (as in obj can’t be protected from 300m)
-more side objs like the camden 1st obj door

100% agree with you potty. Maps need different spawn waves though because the size of the maps and the objective distances.

I agree with all said by potty. The only thing I’d debate is HOW longer should be spawntimes. I think 30 sec is a bit too much, already 22 seconds are very annoying. Especially with short TTK we have now. I’d say 25v20 seconds could be better but it just needs to be tested.

Note that afaik SD can and want to tweak spawntimes per team and PER OBJECTIVE, which is nice.

It’s quite funny potty, you said that this game isn’t going to be ET, but yet you always want all the things that ET had.

Indeed we do an will. Just have to bear with us, we’re still implementing a lot of stuff, the kind of tweaks these times and locations need for comp will generally come later, towards the end of closed beta, where we can very quickly get them into shape without distraction.

Doesn’t mean we wont tweak them now somewhat, just they wont be perfect for some time.

Can we at least implement the fact that if they miss the spawn wave they have to wait for the next one?

Personally would prefer to try some other stuff before we change that. I think that is the least of the spawn issues right now.

Heh. I completely disagree with this. It is one of the issues. Someone goes afk for a second and then comes back and spawns alone. Makes pubs pointless being a few men down. I’m sorry but you’re wrong there anti.

Agree totally with potty. But I don’t think we will see many more changes. It always comes down to 3-5 major things they have to change and we are all talking about it for 4 months now…

Well, we could drop everything and balance the game right now, in alpha, but then you’d have no main menu, no comp mode, no ranked matchmaking, no spectator mode or demo support, no more maps, low frame rate, no stats etc etc

Things have to come in order. The balance of this game will change and improve very rapidly in the last few months before release, when it should.

if you increase/decrease equaly the spawn time what difference will it make except the total real game time played will be increase/decrease
If you want this to give more power/chance to offense increasing def spawn time is a way …but unfair
if you want to punish players that die fast ,thats another story and we should look somewhere else

that’s the best response ever, this is an Alpha, usually many months to years ahead of public access, they know wtf they’re doing, they make games, trust them to make THEIR game maybe not yours, but I already like it for a Pub game, haven’t looked at as a comp

I really hope so. Maybe we are just missing you’re timeline. And I really have no idea how to make a game.
I can only say how it feels atm and SD can see how many alpha testers you are loosing… So something surely isn’t going right
