Spawn Camping: Not A Thing Of The Past

(its al bout security) #101

mind you the orst spawn camp is aquarium, the first stage, if security ignores the bots their lights can run right in the spawn (the turrets have a blind spot) and i have a hiding spot where it would seem as if one was getting hot through a wall. i could place a turret in there as the invinceiblity wears off by the point they get where i am hiding.

but why dont command posts act as spawn points like initially planned?

(Smoochy) #103

i think with only 8 people max on a spawn wave, if we split that even more it would just be small groups and would be hard to from an attack.

big games like the bf series with massive maps arent so limited.

It was discussed, but not planned.

Spawn camping is nothing new, and it’s possible in almost every FPS. Even the ones where it’s impossible, it’s possible. Though in that game, it might be more disguised as camping at the first choke point right off the spawn.

This would have solved a lot of problems if they did that. Not completely, but quite a bit. If one team captures all command posts, it would take a really nimble character to run like hell out of a situation and go capture one behind the line of attack. Difficult, but it could have been managed.

Unfortunately…no one likes to think ahead of time.

I completely agree. I’ve only ever managed to ‘Spawn Camp’ on CCity against bots. When it comes to real people they can get past all the time (actually, it seems that whilst the high-ground is a great defensive spot against bots you’re better off around the gate itself against people). If you’re getting stopped then you need to stop playing like a bot.

Be aggressive, play as a team. You remember the buffs, right? Spawn camping or no you should be running out of the spawn with buffed health and/or weapon and maybe even some Kevlar.
Go Operative and throw a Sticky straight at the high ground and you might get them in the face (I got a fantastic stick right across the warehouse in Refuel), throw Caltrops up there so the campers can’t move around without taking damage. Run up there with a buffed Shotgun and introduce it to their faces. Nade-spam as a soldier.

Just about every complaint I see on these forums comes down to people not playing the game properly. I know, I know, haters gonna hate, fanbois gonna fan, whatever - the fact of the matter is that SD have a lot of experience making these sorts of games, so before whining about something-or-other I really think people should try and change the way they play.
