Sound issue with new patch

(ZeAvIs) #1

When I installed the new patch, my sounds sound a little different. It’s almost like a lot of the sounds got more peircing, like the treble or something was somehow increased. I tried 44 khz, 22 and 11 and nothing changes. When i revert back to 1.02 it sounds just fine, but something with the new patch causes sounds to sound kinda peircing and high treble like or something.

it’s possible he tried changing it in game menu, where it didn’t work, the post I referred to changed it in profile.cfg where it did work
but it’s just a guess anyway :drink:

Hi, i just registered t because im desperate to fix this problem.

I own a HP pavilion zv5290EA (P4 3.2, 512ram, ATI 9000/9100 (im almost sure its the 9100), sharing 128MB for Vram, with a soundmax integrated solution, and whenever i play (doesnt matter if its version 1.06 or 2.60 the game breaks/hangs in x ammount of time like every 2 minutes (HD starts reading, but i doubt its accessing the cache mem, since texture sound etc, is running with everything on low, i even disabled weather effects blood etc… and it isnt spyware, since it only happens in RW:ET im sure my system is clean from it). Its really annoying when ur in a combat situation and the system just hangs whenever a command voice starts playing (from any player even me)
I tried to increase the soundmegs to 32, but its just latches (dunno what that means). and leave the hunkmegs on default, i also tried to lower the sound frequency down to 22khz, didnt work either. After that i’ve been checking the mem used with the meminfo on the console, and from what i could notice memory shortage isnt the problem here, driver maybe? what can i do to fix this, its annoying and affects performance.
BTW, this may sound ridiculous but when i had the cable modem plugged on the ethernet port instead of USB i think this didnt happened, but i cant test it since my rj cable is broken.

Is there a way to force the loading of every sounds into ram?

The result is like this, if you where hearing it:
(in a fighting situation)
player1: i need a medic!
player1: i need a medic!
player2: i ne’ne’ne’ned ammo! (pause for 1.5/2s)
/me DEAD :disgust:

make sure you have the latest usb drivers for motherboard, make sure you have no port conflicts (read something somewhere similar) in usb, get a cat 5 cable and try without usb interface

doob - read the posts I made recently entlitles st …st …st … oh ffs ! ! or something like that.
I had a similar issue and virtually eliminated the problem using a pci latency tool …

This issue can be caused by the sound card not getting enough PCI bus time …
