How/where can we activate it?
I am using a Medusa NX 5.1 Usb headset.
How can we check if surround is already used (not with our ears!)?

This is important for every 5.1 user!
I use a true 5.1 headset too.
Guess we just have to enable the virtual surround rubbish.
The sound engine is ****ed up and is a big piece of junk, you’ll never have 5.1.
Deal with it.
have no 5.1 sound too, only the two stereo front-speaker working. let’s wait and see, atm. there are more important problems to solve. (like none working voip ;-))

want some cookies? or even better, ask your doctor for some funny pills
I think you can set speaker count and some advanced sound settings in the Brink Configurator v1.5.
front left
front right
center
rear left
rear right
bass
= 6?
btw why does s_numberofspeakers show that 6 is default?
Hey guys. Felt like I should chime in here in support of your problem,(and mine) to see if we can get some sort of reply.
I too am having similar issues. If I play with 5.1 running, (optical) then i seem to be missing some of the ambient sounds such as radio chatter, weapon sounds three feet away from me etc. I changed the format to 24bit 44100 stereo and the sounds returned as they should be. Then, a map and a half later every sound just sort of disappears…
What’s weird is that they seem to exit a few sounds every few seconds or so at a time until I am left with complete silence.
So ok. bugs and things aside I must ask this. How in the name of all things digital does this make it through Q & A?
On board sound has been around for years now and is pretty much the mainstream for most folks these days. I build my own rigs and have used pretty much every configuration of PC part since 1994. I even tried my Sound Blaster XIFI as a bit of a test and disabled the on board to see what happened. Same thing I am afraid.
Can we at least get a “we’re working on it” type of reply please? Comeon guys, we aren’t going to sue, we just want to know if you guys can hear us… please?
