SOOOOO DISAPPOINTED

(spence) #1

 Who ever was in charge of employing/recruiting the actor who did the voices should be shot at dawn!!! Never mind dawn shoot them bloody now. I am soooo disapointed if these are to be the final voices.
If they are I dunno whether I will waste too much time playing it to be honest. “Wah too” ? Is supposed to be v27 “Where to” ? And sounds like a Japanese gentleman
I think that the reason to this being a free game is because it’s not good enough to charge people money for it."
So, Wolf original still for me.
Sorry to be so negative but it is only MY opinion.
Play it yourself and make your own mind up but don’t forget my comments on the dodgy voices. Hmmm, maybe there will be a voice_pak that could be installed to play the original RTCW MP voices and not the ridiculous ones they have created for ET.

sorry, but its stupid to complain about sounds imo. it sounded ackward when osp sounds was added to rtcw, but we got used to it. some of the sounds are really nice. anyways what bothers ppl a bit more is that the default rtcw voice chat order has been changed. it took a while to learn it and now it has changed a lot.

this seems to be a double post :stuck_out_tongue:

Firstly, IMO “stupid” is a bad choice of word likely to cause offence. (my opinion only).
I wholey agree with the comment that disagrees with the Voice command changes, as this will cause huge confusion when swapping between RtCW and ET, unless some bright spark can provide a script that is roughly the same for both versions.

My burning question is do they have any Beta testers uing 56k, as I have played 2 yrs RtCW with narrowband (adsl 2 weeks away). There has been big talk about compensation code, but I have never seen a decent one. I hope there are at least a couple of 56 k beta testers, otherwise ET will lose a large number of players.

It makes no sense whatsoever to discuss the leaked Beta. We would have released it ourselves if we felt the game-play was ready for worldwide testing. The fact that we didn’t, should make it clear that game-play is not ready.

For example, the order of the Quick Chat messages in the ‘OFFICIAL’ ET Test release is much like RtCW. It is also quite normal for in-game voices at the Beta stage of development to still need polish.

These are things that are being resolved during closed testing so that they don’t inconvinience the world at large.

Paul/Locki.

Paul,
Cheers for the reply mate.
Of course we all realise it is still too early to be commenting like this on the gameplay etc. It was just concern of mine re the voices etc due to the awful accents that had been incorporated into ET. Are you able to confirm on whether they will be staying or not ?

I think what he is trying to say spence, Is that if you are developing a game the voice commands wouldnt be such a priority on the list of jobs to-do before completion - it’s one of the things you come back to at the end and sort out AFTER you fixed the main coding etc etc.

I would probably be hopeful that there will be new voices - Or, if not, Then at least a more familiar layout to the voice chats as everyone now seems to have been mentioning the difficulty of adapting ;/

The bit I would like to see but obvious ly wont is a way of lighting up a name or something when u hold in a certain key ;D

That way I could set my voice comms over ventrilo etc to indicate to the other guys to STFU lol…

Anyways…

I think most people don’t know the difference between a BETA and a final.
So they complain about everything.

I uploaded my last map for testing and attached a big readme but i will never do it again because people started to complain about a lot stuff and even a rtcw fansite made a review.

SD should only let some serious clans test rtcw-et and maybe some people who are doing the editing-stuff,too.
So they know what a beta is.

(Wampes) #9

and who tells them who is trustworthy and who not?

Certainly, I understand that SD doesn’t employ real betatesters(cost money…), but the way they’ve chosen recently was, as far as I heard, not very smart, though

(Salteh) #10

afaik, Activision recruited all the testers :o

(Wampes) #11

whatever

(PH@TIE) #12

I dont care who is and who aint testin it, as long as it’s tested, corrected and delivered.

I’ve had 2 years of RtCW on 56k, and to be honest struggled until the Shrub / Bani Mods arrived with “Compensation code”. As long as the beta testing includes some 56 K testers, I’m cool.
I will sonn hae ADSL, but hope to see the narrow band community looked after, as this will significantly increase the numbers of players we will see on-line.

I think we should let the guy’s just get on with it now, so we can have our Public release.

I also hope that ET, will get the advertising it will need to attract people from outsie of our RtCW community to play. :fiesta:
