Something Is Definetly Wrong Here....

(Ye Olde Whap Goblin) #1

So recently I decided to jump back on DB for the first time in like 5-6 months after seeing this new update (Yay, I’m back, no one cares XD).

I’ve played a few games over the last few days, gotten the rust out, and I’m doing pretty well atm.

and then I saw this:

Now, I don’t care if this Aura was just extremely bad (which I doubt, as from what I saw, they were pretty good), I played as Thunder EXCLUSIVELY for that entire match, and considering my skill level, as well as Aura’s average xp usually gained in a match, this is unheard of. Someone please explain to me what MLG god possessed me during this match, because I’m sacred and going to lie down for a while… (please don’t take this post as a name shame, I’m just confused as to how I’m doing “so well” with Thunder.) We did end up loosing tho, as you might be able to tell from the scores.

1.) You had a great trance and was playing exceptionally well
2.) You had a few lucky encounters. Right man, right place, right time.
3.) Your teammates were genuinely shite or have a bad day.

So?

Wait what. What is this thread even about. I’m not entirely sure what you’re asking.

I mean, I really don’t see what’s so very unusual about this to be completely honest… Eh, welcome back anyway

Idk about you bro but it’s the level 1 Aura with 5k points that concerns me. Pretty much what SD is going for lately. Everyone nowadays are decent at Dirty Bomb. That good ol’ “This game isn’t gonna hold your hand… It’s more likely to kick your teeth out!” just flew out the window.

(Rjsto) #7

I don’t really believe it when I see any lvl1 people anymore. There’s been so many times I’ve showed up as lvl1 to me and everyone on the server that I’m surprised there isn’t at least one person showing as lvl1 on every server

(doxjq) #8

You never know with level 1’s though. Half of them these days are smurfs.

Aura needs a massive nerf. And I’m saying that as a guy who likes and play Aura often.
For example, yesterday played with Rhino. Defended the shit outta the objectives, got a 27/12 and barely over 9K EXP, while an Aura in our team had 6/22 and almost 1.5 of my score. Killing isn’t worth in this game but ironically one of the most important things.

I totally get the frustration here.
How in the world could one loose to level 1!

Well if a Rhino had his ass parked on her healingstation and she was picking him up every now and then when he did get killed. I could easily see how she made more points. And matter of fact would say she was as important as the Rhino in defending that objective.

Maybe successfull revives should count as kills to bring the K/D comparsions into perspective (maybe at 0.5 or 0.25). Because I have seen medics (of all merc kinds btw.) top out the scoreboard by a large margin with K/Ds around 1:5 or worse. And they indeed deserved that topspot keeping their team up and running, ensuring constant pressure and a upper hand against the opposition.

i went back to playing aura for the first time in i dont even remember how long, and i find it extremely hard to do stuff. when i first started out, i pretty much mained aura, frequently topping the scoreboard and even doing some pretty impressive stuff like win in a 1v1 against a rhino while using a blishlok(aaah that was good)

now that i have spent so much time away from her and changed Q and E from quick ability use to switch to ability item, i find it hard to medic nowadays.

I don’t think the support or fire support needs a nerf XP wise, maybe killing just needs more.

I can totally relate though. I can use Fragger in a Stopwatch game and go 100/20 and be 10k less in score than the Aura who got 25 kills.

I seem to always score a butt ton with Arty though and I’m not sure why. I do slay well with him and I throw ammo around like there is no tomorrow but for some reason the score just rakes up something incredibly high with him.

That was my idea tbh. Mercs who are only there for killing like Fragger/Phantom/Nader/Rhino just get 1.5x Combat EXP.

(ClemClem7) #15

This game is about teamplay, not K/D. A good sparks who revive you at anytime and prevent your K/D being below 1 is doing a good job and actual xp reward these players. And maybe they are doing a 1/10 game, but revived all people 15 times. Typically a vassili who stay at spawn sniping one guy every spawnwave will have a good KD (because no death) but is useless for the team.

(HunterAssassin5) #16

having a positive k/d and getting lots of kills are 2 pretty different things. vassilis that sit at spawn get like 1 or 2 kills per enemy spawn wave, while a good fragger or phantom can net a cool 4 or more if he know’s his shit. he’ll probably die immediately afterwards, but the enemy reinforcement is severly dwindled after a cooked nade came flying into a room things like that deserve bonus points

Killing people doesn’t get you a ton of XP. Killing people while getting tons of badges is what brings in the XP. Same thing for healing. Healing brings in XP but healing people while getting either killing badges or healing badges (or both) is what will get a high score. It’s why pure medics can get a pretty high score. You were focused on killing and they were focused on getting constant revives and such which brings in revive spree badges and the doctor badges. So despite their 2-20 score they still can keep up. I see nothing wrong with this. Healing stations can be a bit easy to get health insurance points with but it doesn’t bother me because it has to be a situation where people are smart enough and capable enough to run back to it.

(ClemClem7) #18

Healing people and not killing ennemies is too boring. Everyone want kill ennemies. But medics are altruistic, and it’s because they heal you that you can kill a lot of people.
If you an aura earn a lot of xp (pretty easy with aura I agree on that point) it’s because everyone needed her. When there is a lot of medics, they only earn few xp, but when there is only one, all xp is for him. It’s the same with assaults. But as there is often many assault, they earn less xp.

(MTLMortis) #19

Keeping your team alive so they can either attack or defend is much more important than kills. Medics are what we call a FORCE MULTIPLIER and a vital role in an effective COMBINED ARMS RESPONSE TO THREATS

(Jostabeere) #20

There are classes whose purpose is killing people.
