I fly a lot in ETQW, it’s probably what I’m best at. My advice for you:
-don’t bind weapon switch to your mouse, because when you hit it it will jiggle your mouse and the best pilots always have a high sensitivity in order to pull off crazy maneuvers
-bind your decoys to Mouse 2 (alt fire) with a contextual config so it only happens when the game detects you are in a flier
-if you have a mouse with extra side buttons, make one of the thumb buttons the use key (also seat switch and instant repair for vehicles) and make the other enter/exit vehicle. It makes bailing out of the flier almost instantaneous if you practice.
-immerse yourself with the advanced flight controls, eventually you will acclimate to them, basic controls are unacceptable and leave you very vulnerable.
-merely decoying to avoid a lock isn’t good enough, if you don’t evade while decoying then the missile might still hit you.
-as a flier your target priority should be: enemy fliers, mortar/rocket arty (you cannot decoy these locks and these can even hit you without locks), AVTs, radar, enemy armors, rockets/oblits, snipers, then other stuff. The APC is the most dangerous ground vehicle in the game to a flier
-practice quick ascents and descents in the tormentor, that is the key to winning vs the anansi, never approach the anansi on a level horizontal plane to it, you will almost always lose. always attack the anansi from above or below it
-whenever flying the anansi ALWAYS hold the UP hover key while flying EXCEPT when trying to flip upside down. Especially use it when breaking.
-when flying at an enemy aircraft, do a barrel roll just before you attack and fire while upside down, 9/10 times this causes their aimed shot to miss and yours will still hit.
-if you see enemy infantry in a clear open space or on top of a hill or object, try and kill them by scraping them with the bottom of your aircraft.
-when using the tormentor to fight the titan, get right above the titan and slowly spiral down on it while firing to make sure that it can’t fight back (its firing arc won’t go that high for either of its guns)
