The sniper instakill on bodyshot on low-hp mercs is horrible. It completely breaks the game’s dynamics and starts turning into a trench war like Battlefield. That is boring. The game greatly benefited from fluent dynamics, from being fast paced, before this change was made. Now players barely dare to stick their heads out of cover anymore. Why this is a problem in an objective-based game need not be explained, I hope. The sniper instagib on headshot contributes to this issue as well and should be removed, in my opinion. It was perfectly fine before the update. Good shooting should be rewarded, thus a kill on headshot with a sniper rifle is fine, but there should be no instakill on a torso hit and definitely no instagib on headshot.
Proxy’s mine is being used more as a grenade than anything else because it is self-arming. Players will often do suicide runs and just drop mines in the middle of the enemy team’s defense positions. I’m not sure if this is working as intended, but I feel that it somewhat defeats the purpose of the mines. There is already a grenade-throwing class, the Fragger, and Proxy with her speed is becoming kind of a lemming class. What might help is to introduce an arming-mechanic to the mines. It doesn’t have to be long, three seconds per mine with Proxy’s tool, but make sure that mines are armed and not tossed around like grenades. In turn, the warning sound could be removed or made more quiet to make the mines harder to spot.
Airstrikes need longer cooldowns. Period. They had their purpose in Quake Wars to bypass Artillery Interceptor Turrets, and why they are in this game in the first place is beyond me, but the airstrike spam is very painful. This game has very small maps and tight areas of engagement, and airstrikes are simply too powerful in their current form, especially considering that most objectives are outdoors, unlike Quake Wars, where the spam can be map-deciding. They essentially become the main weapon in this game and guns and area control become obsolete if you can just drop a number of airstrikes on any area.
