Weedy sounds - explosions etc - are a good thing. They don’t make your eyes hurt after hours of play !

Note also that the videos made by taking a video camera into the game area will not represent anything close to the real quality of the sound.
It is a little strange to have someone reviewing sound in the game based on a demo build captured on hand-held camera in a noisy convention hall, I have to admit.

So what you’re saying, in fact, is that we should not rush to conclusions ABOUT THE DEMO BUILD. Notice the key words, straight from Wils’ mouth. It’s almost like he’s trying to tell us that there is a 9 map demo build, being tested by people just like us, only they’re not us. How large of an angry mob would it take to storm Activision and play a few rounds?
P.S. When does Wils sleep? He posts at like 4am England Time.

speaking of demo: was the quakecon demo the same as the e3 demo? i’ve read something like that somewhere (= best description of rumour).
More or less - we patched it with a couple of fixes for problems we found at E3. Creating another event build would have taken too much time out of the schedule for little benefit (since you guys hadn’t played it at all, and Quakecon is primarily for the community rather than a press event).
And the community thanks you! Even the guys hiding in the back turning us into mince-meat were not so bad.

As I said above, my comments on the sound quaity are qualified by the words “in so far as its possible to tell from the video”.
Send me the demo and I’ll be glad to review it in detail and feedback in confidence pursuant to any CA.
