I doubt there would be settings to change them while hosting servers and if you were talking about individual setting then that would actually put you at a disadvantage.

I was just saw some of last year’s gameplay vids and in my opinion the interface of the previous version was the best. I really hope they remove the red hues and the other clutter and just revert it back to how it originally was.

The movement speed seems fine to me. It looks faster than in the Container City demo, and the sprint speed looks pretty good too.

Why would i need to care how much xp did one hit bring?
All minor distractions between crosshair and enemy should be kept to a minimum because it can be distracting as you need to actively filter out multiple moving objects in one small area.

They did say you have unlimited stamina, and in combination with the shoot while sprinting perk I am sure it will be a lot faster.

You can use the information to trace your target.

Really the HUD is way too full right now. I already voiced my concern for this around Christmas but it seems to be a concern not shared with SD.

Ideally a player needs to get all his information from the environment, not from the hud. Anything that needs to be displayed by the hud is a sign of weakness.

Also, SD said that the XP is shown each time you hit a target. So it is a means of telling how many of your shots are actually hitting the target, as well as making the console scrub feel warm inside. I think red flash/beep+tracers did it better. Everything needs to be allowed to be toggled and include transparency levels, possibly an alternative HUD style as well. Hopefully we will see that option in the final product.

I kinda like the xp petals, best use of xp I’ve seen thus far. :wink:

As for the other UI stuff I think we do have to give them a little more time, I like the friendly outlines, in the vid they look a like digitally artifacted HUD elements that you might have in the future. Also like the Medics on way popup and I caught the fact that meds give the player the ability to revive so you can time it yourself. Nice.

I’d be interested in how SD is seeing people totally new to Brink pick up on it without the coaching.

Exactly what I meant.
Cluttering up of the hud, the red hues and the other changes seemingly have been done pull in casual/console gamers/10 year olds. I can understand SD’s need to provide what mainstream gamers “need” to make their product a success but in my opinion all these changes are actually ripping off depth and fun from the game.

It has been mentioned there will be a perk to reload while sprinting and nade cooking but that in combination with shooting would be pretty awesome!

The Universal abilities can be used no matter what class you are, and there’s a bunch to choose from here as well – from simple things like making your life meter longer, to fancy things like shooting grenades out of the air, to hardcore things like reloading while sprinting or grenade cooking.

i like it actually. looks nice when a bunch of numbers pop out of my enemy.

make this optional is the best route you wanna take though. as much settings as possible should be optional. there shouldnt be tons of menu options but the hardcore should have the possibility to change everything via the console on pc.
