Righty, duo-qued for almost the entire evening with a teammate of mine. We were waiting to get put against our other mateys that qued simultaneously couple of times but meh, no luck on healthy competition bashing teammates skulls for a change Anywho.
5 wins, 5 losses. Gotta say on average most balanced games so far I’ve had. I recall playing a little over 100 matches in pre-season, 90% of them in premade team of ours, so due small sample size can’t say anything definite yet. But I enjoyed this a lot! Had 1 or 2 stomps but even those weren’t those hopeless ones where you get spawncamped for 15minutes, we could’ve turned the tides. In one match we actually did turn a seemingly lost, steamrolling prediction, into our victory.
What I noticed that despite some of the previous season’s ELO being “transferred” over to next, skill differences are quite huge in unranked pool. No surprise there though. Quite a many people seem to think ELO would immediately know who is on what “level” skill-wise and that they don’t have to deal with potatoes. My only advice to them is: relax, they get their Bronze 5 (or whatever it’s called now) eventually and won’t bother Your Highnesses after ranks have been received and people get stuck mostly alongside their own rank’s level of players.
That or some people got too used to premade stomping and now that they actually have to play in order to receive something is too much to handle shrug
So quite a chaos at the start, but it got, least seemed so, more even and even towards the 7th, 8th game and so forth, even if we were still playing on Unranked level. Can’t say if it was coincidence or ELO at work, was enjoyable nevertheless.
As a very positive surprise people weren’t so stuck up, selfish and silent either as I thought they would be, communication- and teamplay-wise. Heck we even had a sing-along during one half-time with couple of completely random fellas. Sure, potatoes and jerks were here and there as usual, gotta just learn to deal with them. First mentioned get rarer the higher your rank goes, and latter can be ignored.
Ragequitting seemed to cease towards the end of our marathon too, penalties are quite harsh. Sadly that does result in couple of falsely put penalties for people who simply got booted off by game error and didn’t manage to rejoin, happened to me once and man that 2,5h penalty isn’t nice in that case. But it does stop constant RQ:ing, so good once servers get properly stable, if issue even lies within that.
TL;DR Play at the very least your 10 placement matches, grow a pair, stare challenge in the eyes and then you’re eligible to give doomsday feedback on the subject at hand. Unranked is chaos that gets towards the better side after every game. Good stuff. Can’t wait for more people to catch the ins-and-outs of 5v5 mode so premade games via ranked mode can be re-introduced.
