You’d be dead wrong then. Just checked the stats site, and the total matches played is presently sitting on 998,596. Almost about to crack a million games played. And the numbers are even larger on 360. It’s pushing close to 2 million matches played. Now you also have to figure that for over a month, no PS3 stats were tabulated since PSN was down at the time, so chances are the PS3 numbers would probably be about the same had that factor not been in play. Brink’s alive and well on consoles, even with BF3 on the market, and MW3 just hours away from being released. Will the numbers dwindle a bit? Most likely. But Brink won’t “die” quickly on consoles, that’s for certain. PC on the other hand? Brink’s already decomposing in a pine box. Just 211,441 total games played. Not even remotely close to the numbers for consoles.
So you think Brink's dead on consoles, eh?
And for total players? Total matches is a worthless statistic… so your not proving anything with this lmao.
Agreed^ It could easily just be the same few people playing over and over again nonstop. And just because it has a relatively high total match count, doesn’t equate to being active right now or anymore at all.
Thanks for trolling, fellas. Glad to have given your meager existences with meaning for just a few seconds. [/sarcasm]
Total matches played, you do know what that means right? How many of those matches were played last week for instance? Come back with meaningful statistics next time you want to ‘prove’ something.
You can get locked up for talking to yourself.
Its not that Brink is dead on console, is that any FPS is supposed to be played on PC.
/rant
Don’t forget, Brink sold well on Console. Larger install base out of the gate. Still one of the best games this year! I can’t wait until the patch drops. Good times.
What has this got to do with misunderstanding match statistics?
1.9 million of the 2 million matches played on Xbox could have been during the first month or so. Mario Brothers on the NES has sold over 40 million copies, this high number doesn’t mean people are still buying/playing this game. All those statistics posted in the original post only show the amount of matches played since release on each platform, they cannot be used to fathom player retention on the consoles. You can on PC using steam statistics though.

Almost as funny as saying Brink isn’t dead because there have been 2 million matches played in 7 months.

Statistically this thread is a dead end.
It may or may not be alive on consoles.
You’d need to track the matches week to week (or day to day) and, if possible, track the number of unique active players to draw any conclusion about how well the community is doing.
If there are only 1000 active players then it doesn’t matter how many games they play because there will be no more development worth supporting so few people. Lets say a DLC costs $100,000 to make (that’s a cheap DLC btw). Then 1000 people (everybody) would need to all buy it for $100 each just to break even.
If the playerbase on console is 100,000 active members then the price can be lower, but then again: not everybody buys the DLC (I have no idea what the percentages are… that’s a marketing thing - ask Bethesda) and so even then 100,000 people won’t result in profit if only 10% buy the DLC at $10 a pop.
With a single number (2 million games) and without any other data (not even a timeline) you may as well try predict the lifespan of the first astronaut who will land on Mars at some point in the future. You’ll have about the same error-level as predicting how viable the console player base is.
At least Steam had running daily “peak” and “current players” figures which were watched while they still appeared in the top 100. You could glean far more information off that.

Someone posted a graph of that in another thread recently. There was a sharp spike upon release, followed by a very quick decline, followed by a spike when Agents of Change was released, followed by another quick decline, then it basically just petered out. Granted, being Steam, those are PC-only stats, but I can’t imagine it would be wildly different on console.

.
P.S Brink is not dead if they’re working on a patch.

Is that the same patch that is mainly for the PC weapon tweaks?
