We don’t have close to mid range sharpshoooters, AKA gunslingers.
A new Recon could be one.

Since Javelin’s arrival, merc groups will be out of proportion:
5 X Support + 4 X Recons?* + 4 X Offence + 4 X Engies + 4 X Medics

*Phantom’s a wild card

This means, we need 4 more new mercs in each group. Otherwise it’s gonna be harmful to the merc ecosystem… Causing all sorts of Butterfly effects and time paradoxes… :o

They don’t have to necessarily though. I mean, SD seems to be moving away from the typical merc duties. In other games, snipers must snipe, medics must revive, and slayers must slay, there’s very little ability to do otherwise.

DB is more versatile than that; mercs can do more than what their class suggests. SD already has phantom, someone who doesn’t really fit with any class. They added turtle, a weird defensive engineer, and now we’re getting someone who seems like a cross between a slayer and a fire support.

They could just do away with official merc classes altogether

I hope for an offensive engie that can be a proper alternative to Fletcher, though it probably won’t happen due to the recent release of Turtle.

I would also love to see a merc able to give both ammo and health, but can’t revive. A mix between a medic and a fire support basically.

Or… we could go as far, and create the new 6th group called “Misfits”.
Phantom already fits, since he isn’t a recon.

Which means, SD would need to create 10 new mercs.
4 for misfits
2 for recons
1 for medics
1 for engies
1 for fire support
1 for assault

I think they need to move on from Merc creation. 21 is a damn fine roster if you ask me. Heck they could not add another merc and fully release the game as far as I’m concerned. Won’t complain if they add more but I think dev time should be spent now on maps, gamemodes, bugs, and cosmetics/cosmetic systems.

Haha, I had a similar idea a few months ago after a few faith-shattering defeats in pubs. A merc for carrying in pubs - a medic/engineer hybrid.

110HP
primary: 3xSMG
secondary: 3x pistol
first ability: engineers thingy (blowtorch?) for fast planting/defusing
second ability: revive pads

Basic stats just enough have a chance in any 1v1 and all the tools you need to carry your team to victory, whether they like it or not. No healing, just reviving. I don’t know if he’s OP or UP, I just thought that 110HP+SMGs is a good place to start.

give thunder EMP field that has 15 sec of cooldown, can only be thrown as far as proxy’s mine and can be shot by enemies

main usage: denying electronics and projectiles being thrown at the shield…
