So whenver your weapon skills go up to say 4 stars..........

you ( at least seem to) shoot straighter and you get faster reloads and other weapon “power ups” (oh dear what have I said) given to you in the game at various times ( for the duration) for doing various things.

With regard being awarded these extra weapon benefits, which you will be awarded if you play long enough more or less no matter what, what I don’t like is whenever you join a server, fresh faced, no XP at all, even utter wankers at the game ( that you have come across in the past) have a VERY good chance of putting you on yer arse every time you cross their path.

I just don’t know if I would like to see these benefits removed as I do like to obtain them and knock the shit out of everybody that I meet with INCREDIBLE ease (only because of them), but getting my arse kicked by an utter tool at the game is a bit of a pisser.

Which is why I think that 6 map camaigns (or 10, or 12 for that matter) are a complete and utter waste of time. You’ve got the 4 or 5 people that get in at the start, and have 5 hours on their hands to play ET, and they dominate…

Which is why ET was meant to be played in 3 map campaigns… Anything larger, and it almost completely defeats the purpose of Covert Ops, for example… by map 4 of a 6 map campaign, every Field Ops already has lvl 4 signals, guaranteed.

It’s disheartening to see so many 6 map campaigns being run on pubs these days… If you come in during map 2 of a 3 map campaign, you’re not THAT far behind everybody else… If you come in at map 3, then you’ve only got to wait probably 15 minutes until a new campaign starts.

You’re exaggerating, sure people with maxed exp will be able to beat people who are better then them some of the time, but not to the extent you claim. If you’re really as good as you say you are noobs aren’t even going to hit you in half your fights, and even in the most skillfull pub server it’s only going to turn the tide for your fights with 2-3 people, and then only until you gain the exp you need to put them back in their place.

At no time did I say anything about being good, what I said was I like the added advantage of all the weapons skill awards that then enable me to have an advantage over people who have not yet attained them. A completely different state of affairs from what you think I meant  .

Start up a LAN game, use the debugbullets command and look at your spreads at different skill levels. The level 3 reduced recoil perk isn’t that big of a benefit. Akimbo pistols have a great rate of fire but a wide recoil. For all the benefits you get from the light weapons skill, none of them seem to allow a less skilled player to always win a firefight verses a more skilled one.

I think part of this impression is that after playing long enough to get these skill levels, you are both getting “warmed up” and more knowledgable of the people you’re playing against. You know that one engie likes to use rifle grenades, the medic drops out to feed himself packs during a firefight, the field ops guy tends to travel in a group. Now you can predict what your opponent is going to do and adapt your tactics accordingly.

This is why I think people place far too much importance on xp levels than they should. Skill is still a major part of successful player. Place a good player on the 5th map of a 6 map campaign, and while he won’t get the 1k xp necessary to catch up, he’ll still be a valuable member of the team and do a good job. His k:d ratio and teamwork ability will be far higher than his xp level would suggest.

Ya so you just suck at aiming. :drink:

Serisouly, I have no problem taking anyone out when I join a server halfway through.

I cant say I have got real issues in killing when everyone might be level 4 and iam level 0,obviously ur at a disadvantage and will die more than u would have if u were equal in light weapons with them, but it doesnt take long before u level up and I always think its a nice challenge taking on level 4 when ur level 0.

Also theres gonna be plenty of times when ur level 4 and ur taking guys on who are fresh to the server.

Dammit!

I thought Borsuk the Great tought all you all that he knows!! Borsuk could ALWAYS take out lesser skilled players, even if he was a private and his victim a General!!

You are a dissapointment to Him.

Not read most of these posts - but when i join a map - i join a server running goldrush or fueldump - so im first map asap for next campaign

So in doing this i meet people who have 300, 400, 500 600 + more XP

The only problem i have is killing medic with masses of health - but apart from that - most of my enemies drop like flies no matter how much XP i got - and i still get same XP in return - shame

would be nice to get more XP based on killing enemy with higher XP than u

He has not communicated with his followers in many moons, I am at a loss without his sage and wise council. I fear the worst.

At night I pray for a sign…but it never comes and the dawn brings but another dark and meaningless day.

I also wish that fuckin’ magpie that lives in one of the cherry trees outside my house would FUCK OFF (one for sorrow as the rhyme goes). What a cunt he is, as my car is white (I know I know) and his shit is fuckin’ purpley reddish ewww stuff because of the cherries.

You claim you’re not good, but you can kick the shit out of everybody with INCREDIBLE ease…it doesn’t add up dude, even if you only beat them because of your exp, most other people on the server will have high enough exp to be equal to you, and by the end they will be equal to you, so it can’t possibly be because of the exp. Make up your mind.

also the other full quote :

“At no time did I say anything about being good, what I said was I like the added advantage of all the weapons skill awards that then enable me to have an advantage over people who have not yet attained them. A completely different state of affairs from what you think I meant .”

I have made up my mind in this very FIRST instance, please do not quote me out of context  .

([=O=]SMYLER) #13

Look what can be done, you never said that really.

I sometimes play on unlimited XP servers, with a 4-map campaign that just accumulates points forever. A 12 year old was on once for 7 hours (he said) and had level 4 in everything.

I don’t find those people overpowering, although they are annoying. They can switch to fieldop at any time and call on super-heavy arty, or switch to engie and immediately start pulling quad-TNT fastplants. Meanwhile, I’ve been the solo team engineer for most of the map and only have level 1.

I wish that there were at least an easy way to distinguish people who’ve been playing for an extra-long time. I’d like to be able to see, beside their XP total, how much XP they earned in just the current map, or how many XP they’ve gotten per minute.

It’s completely weird when one person gets Best Soldier, Best Medic, Best Engineer, and Best Covert- even though he’s only been a FieldOps for the entire map!
