Need a buff for sure. Stark/Timik is a much better choice for now.
So what do you think about the MK46? (Possible nerf/balance?)

I switched from the MK46 to a Stark loadout with drilled and my already decent numbers with Thunder went up considerably. The MK46 is really good at close range but starts getting rough to kill with at medium distance and beyond against people who know how to move well. And the extra belt capacity doesn’t assist with this. This isn’t an issue with the K121.
The Stark fixes this issue for me and allows me to play the peek game and use my HP to tank more damage while being able to kill mobile/low hp targets ridiculously fast. I just find myself in more situations, at least with my playstyle and against very mobile opponents, where the MK46 isn’t as good as other weapons.
I think the gun is a but underwhelming after sinking quite a few hours behind it.
at mid range mk46 thunder wants to shoot from cover; ADS can mop people up with headshots.
hipfire is way too inaccurate to combat other rifles, does alright against smgs, you likely will win with thunder’s hp+extra ammo
That’s the thing…unlike the K121 you have to ADS and hit headshots with the MK46. With the K121 you typically will ADS it a lot more than other guns but hitting headshots isn’t needed to mop up a kill. Body shots will typically do the job quite nicely for finishes.
And the MK46 simply can’t be fired very well from range. The issue I ran into is people who knew they were going to be outgunned and choose to run. With a K121, Stark or an M4 a lot of times they don’t even get that chance. But if they know how to move and make you miss headshots the chances of a kill before they get around the corner are much lower when I used the MK46 compared to any of the other listed guns. I think part of my problem is I keep using it like the K121 and ADS’ing more than I should going for headshots. It simply not being that accurate from the hip leaves me more open than I’d normally like…and Thunder is pretty massive as well.
Yes, part of this is me not being used to the gun despite using it for many hours of play (normally it doesn’t take me very long). But it feels almost like i have to play more of a mobile Rhino game due to his range issues instead of playing like Fragger. If you aren’t fairly close and you’re playing against good players you’re going to have issues putting them down consistently compared to other weapons.
At least that is how I currently see it based on my personal experience and playstyle. So YMMV.
Anyone who thinks the mk48 is better than the k-121 must be delusional. The K-121 is amazing and drops enemies so fast while the mk48 has a really low damage and “high fire rate.” High fire rate = more spread on this gun. As an assault class I should be able to win 1 on 1s with thunder more than I lose them, but that is not the case. And no my aim is not that bad. The concussion made is awful compared to the grenade. I wonder what the size comparison of thunder and fragger and rhino is. Thunder seems really massive with a large head.
^- I win 1v1 against thunder, in my phoenix… then again the only thing that stops with phoenix is rhino…sometimes…
The concussion grenade can be situationally stronger than the frag grenade but I don’t find it too be as reliable. You know what you’re getting with a frag grenade; the same cannot be said about the concussion grenade.
The main issue is that the concussion grenade affects my team as much as it does the other team so nobody can see

Well, this is supposed to be a team based game. Using a concussion grenade with your teammates being aware of it in a 5v5 match will be pretty devastating as it does so many things better than a single frag grenade does. It pretty much invalidates all Rhino positions in 5v5 and can easily get teams into rooms/areas that were previously much harder to take without getting some lucky damage with a frag nade. With the concussion grenade you won’t really have to be lucky at all since it’s also an EMP.
On pubs it’s inconsistent, annoying and bugged (hopefully fixed this week). But in actual matches with real team play it will be amazing.
@Amerika Im starting to think the LMG isn’t that bad on Thunder. It’s hard to make changes and create balanced characters.
IMO, the MK46 seems designed specifically for the event that you concuss a room full of people and mop them up with your 85 round belt and high fire rate at close quarters to compensate the spread.
That’s when I have the most fun with Thunder.

That’s exactly what it’s good at and what I’ve talked about in other threads. It’s super good close up. It’s when you get into longer range situations that you find yourself in against mobile players where the MK46 starts to feel more like Rhino’s minigun and limits him a bit.
You just never know sometimes. I’ve seen enemy bangs suddenly come flying around a corner or through a doorway, and I start to turn around as it pops a few feet away. You see the sparks and everything, but my screen goes white for only about half a second, and that’s it. Then a Thunder comes storming in (probably expecting blinded players) and gets mowed down. GG. Other times I get flashed outta nowhere and it’s awful.

I can relate. The concs are dreadfully unreliable at times. Cooking them helps a bit, but cooked concs increase the chance to flash yourself.
Thunder’s job is to kill people. Its what he does. So when his only ability is directly weaker than the other MG toting mankiller, he has to have something to make the difference.
Enter the MK46, and 10 more HP.
Not to mentioned the dudes so damn slow. uuuuggggghhhh

Just like that. Thunder only has to rely on his primary weapon, and this gun is just Huge Kek-10 with 85 rounds and high bullet spread.
and you know what? weakness of his primary weapon makes him as opportunist.
Waiting for those concussionade 17sec cooldown, throws it, and if you see those ‘Concussed’ scores, you get in, if non-concussed enemies shoot at you, you fight, or retreat.
Supposed to be an Assault merc, has to stand as frontline gunner, but in-game? just one chance-seeker.
Concussion annoys people, but thats all.
Yes, you can have good scores, good stats with him playing like sneaky rat, but this means current Thunder is too much Concussionade-depending.
I don’t have much firepower than Rhino, or AoE damage explosives skills like Fragger or Nader, so I want Powerful primary weapon and HP stat close to Rhino.
He doesn’t even have BOTH. Well Primary weapon problem does solve when you use Stark and Timik, but still can’t handle squishy HP.
Its spread when hip firing is ridiculously big and when ADS muzzle flash covers half of the screen so its hard to track enemy, change it or buff damage
