So, uh, SD, what's the cut content?

(yoomazir) #1

Remember the 3 part Container City dev commentary? Let’s check the video of part 3:

Now, Splash Damage? where are those cutscenes in my game? what did the Security guys (that I don’t see either in my game) found?

I hope it’s not something you made for shows, to only remove it afterward, like that fake E3 demo of Halo 2. If that were the case then that would mean you guys had some problems making this game, remade much?

Canwe expect to get the cut content in the form of dlc or is it in LimboLand forever?

edit: forgot to put one more letter to the link, now you can watch it. Also, along with the cutscenes, you can see some differences in the gameplay :-/ SD lied to us :-p

(tokamak) #2

Agreed, that was a tremendous cliffhanger that never appeared in the game. Really disappointed.

(Gamer2Gamers) #3

seems like a lot of things were left for hanging - unless it makes a reappearance on DLC…meh who knows.

(Calelith) #4

Thats half way through the game, imagine having to watch cutscenes mid game every match.

I think they should have kept the cutscenes to the single player, that would have allowed them to tell more of the story.

Multiplayer should have gone for a style like the one killzone uses, where cutscenes show the top 3/4 players in them.

Yeah, when I first played that section of the game I was expecting that cut scene but it didn’t happen. I hope SD keeps the story going.

Man, the game looked different in those vids!

Game beginning at first day of civil war so maybe they didn’t want to give so much away at the beginning. Milk it a little.

(Protector) #6

DLC? 10char

(Gamer2Gamers) #7

you know i kinda always thought that was a third alien faction and some different kind of species…that would of been so nice

Yeah, the game is also a lot different than the commercials I see on TV. At least other games have the decency to show ACTUAL gameplay. But then again who would buy it if they saw massive lag being showed… ha

(OldMcNastyNutz) #9

If you don’t want to watch the entire video.

(tangoliber) #10

They definitely cut a good bit. I guess they did it for the sake of the multiplayer flow. Especially the story parts that occured while the player was in control… must have been difficult to make it work for both sides.

Back then, the singleplayer looked very innovative. Now, not so much…but that doesn’t matter cause the game plays great.

You are right Calelith…Killzone 3 did a good job on their Operations cutscenes. Operations was the only thing I liked about KZ3 (KZ2 is my favorite shooter of all time, even above Unreal Tournament 99). It only had 3 maps though, so I love the fact that Brink is dedicated soley to that type of gameplay.

Exactly what i was thinking from before release to now. the cutscenes in the operatiosn game mode in KZ3 were the only thing about the game, everything else was crap. Good thing i only rented it, but thats another story.

The cutscenes were awesome and i would love if they had it in BRINK. When i got to the part in the video and not cutscene came up i was shocked, SHOCKED!..well not that shocked. But i was waiting for the cutscene, not to be killed by a rush of bots coming from their spawn and a new objective waiting to be done.

Hopefully, SD will hear our pleas and grant us those wonderfull cutscenes and make the story of BRINK something much, much more wonderfull.

(Bakercompany) #12

Man, i’d pay money (lets say, 60$) to see what was cut from this game.

I bet the list is staggering. Wonder which D-bag financial guy at Bethesda I should hate for this.

(Shadedluck) #13

I really like how container city used to look. Now it’s too bright and cheery. It seemed more natural-darker like that. Anyone else like the old way? Plus, they redid some of it. There isn’t a command post down there now, it’s another route. And the cut scene, I don’t know what it was SUPPOSED to be, but it didn’t sound like it was supposed to be a vaccine. It sounded like it was an incubated alien.

(Bakercompany) #14

Wait a minute…is this what PC guys are playing? I mean does it look exactly like that?

If thats the case holy crap. I know Xbox gets a watered down port but thats not even close to the same game. Look at the difference in explosions from the lobster…

In terms of smoothness and texture resolutions, yeah, its about that. Its still an older version of the game though, a lot of things are different. Pretty much imagine what the 360 version looks like, only everything is a higher res texture, and doesnt look like butter was smeared all over the screen.

CCity was a lot darker in this video, its just as bright as the 360 version is, only you can see what the game actually looks like. You see the differences the second you see the main menu.

First off, this guy took the words out of my mouth. Seriously, wtf!?

Secondly, I get the vibe of some kind of weapon rather than an alien. Maybe they stumbled on a dirty bomb that would still be implemented in the What-if scenarios of the Resistance side. The only difference is the actual cutscene. I say this because the captain says “turn the safeties on, lower your weapons.” If it was an alien, they would have kept their guns trained on it because it might be hostile. If it was a bomb on the other hand, you don’t want that sucker going off next to ya.

It could just be the “bio weapon” that is in that container now. Only, they decided on its actually a vaccine, so its not really that surprising when they open it up and just find a suitcase.

Maybe originally SD intended on Resistance being more of a terrorist group than they are, with intent on destroying The Ark from the get go. They could have intended you to find some nuclear bomb or something in the container, but then decided they wanted Resistance to be more peaceful (or as peaceful as one can be while shooting someone), and still go with the bio weapon idea, but just have it be misinformation.

(darthmob) #18

Interesting, this does not happen in Brink? I’m pretty sure that it was a planned feature at some point.

(sirius89) #19

“Cut” content comes with first "Free"DLC lololol.

(StillBatusBrad) #20

I’m sure SD are like many other companies out there - their first DLC (the free one!) will probably consist of material they’ve already got finished and chose to cut out of the release-day version…
