So, uh, SD, what's the cut content?

(KAS--Will) #21

Yeah, honestly, I hated this cliffhanger, and made game twice as interesting, I remember having discussions on fan forums, and we (as a forum) concurred, it was Kryptonite…

Besides that… did anyone else feel that this game looked just slightly more bad ass than the one we got? I mean, it seemed more gritty and intense… and WAY more fast paced…

(Druig) #22

I can’t believe how much better the game looks in those trailers…So sad, well i’m done with this game anyway.

(legend123) #23

ya i was hoping for more fast paced action.

(KAS--Will) #24

I mean… I’m not saying the games bad, I still think it’s worthy of an 8.5 (above average grade), but the game in the trailers just looks like a solid 10 out of 10. XD

(Sovereign) #25

How is it cut content? Instead of showing some glowy lab in the container they just replaced it with a case to carry to the extraction point. Only reason they did is to smooth gameplay.

(stealth6) #26

This sounds like the W:ET ‘lost maps’ all over again

(yoomazir) #27

if there’s something else you guys see that is missing feel free to post it here.

(Bakercompany) #28

I’m not so worried about the cut content. It happens to every game.

But if PC guys are playing something similar to what the 360 is just a little sharper, then clearly at some point Splash Damage had to pretty much scrap their dream, and create a shell of what it was supposed to be.

I wish I could play the videos of the 360/PC gameplay compared to whats in this video. If Brink looked and played like this, I would give a damn about game modes, stats, or whatever. Its freaking gorgeous.

Clearly at some point the financial brakes were slammed on and the project, and it was taken a totally different (cheaper/quicker) route.

I could see why SD said this game was going to be revolutionary if it ended up looking like that.

I seriously thought it was some sort of alien tech - or some sort of alien species…i was like wow wicked little twist but then it just turned out to be security vs resistance, lol.

Here we go.

Play this video first Just turn the volume off and ignore the IGN craptastic review, just watch the gameplay footage. Thats exactly what Xbox looks like.

Now play this video again.

So. When was the call made to pretty much scrap their graphical dream and finish it quicker? I guess this is why I played WoW for 6 years. Blizzard may take forever to release new games/sequels. But when they do, its the quality and dream they envisioned.

(yoomazir) #31

You know, I think Splash Damage should be honest to us, the fans and customers, and tell us what really happened.
They can’t deny how great the game graphics looked on videos in 2009 (and supposedly on 360) and then, in the 2011 retail version, they aren’t so great.
And this goes also for the cutscenes/story, what the hell happened? why show al that stuff to appeal us and in the end it doesn’t appear in the final product?

(Jak Swift) #32

The part where the robots cutting the container open, could be the location Chen mentions hes dead brothers en-tombed body is. ill have to check the audio log again 2moz. but then again dont you just grab an item from here for an objective? im confused.

What SD should’ve done:
Campaign mode features mid match cutscenes and scripted dialogue as well as interactive momentsto further the story while still retaining multiplayer functionality. During the in game parts teams are kept seperated while it plays out while each side has a context specific exchange between REAL CHARACTERS that plays out depending on how the match is going (only 1 of 2 options, really). Simply make the timing work on each side.

Freeplay however strips all of that out and becomes the traditional match we have now. Players can enter and exit from both but to avoid the extra fluff, you do freeplay.

I think that way campaign could’ve had memorable characters and deeper storytelling instead of the wasted potential that is there…the backstory is great, the writing is great, and you don’t know WHICH side is telling the truth in every mission…but the delivery falls so flat it almost does a frontflip

(trigg3r) #34

They found a bioweapon. The custscene is gone but if you listen to general mokoena he mention it several times

(peteXnasty) #35

Yea but the resistence says its a vaccine. The cutscene in that video is neither I think

(EpicStratagem) #36

The PRE FREAKING ALPHA build looked and sounded better than the one we paid sixty dollars for. Can we get that one instead?

(Tandem) #37

…word

(A.i) #38

The difference is in shadow quality, more contrast, darker lightning, different/sharper textures and smoke effects on explosions. If there ever will be mods…

(yoomazir) #39

“In this third video from Container City, Game Director Paul Wedgwood shows off Brink’s Solider class and some heavy weapons action.”

Hey, Paulie, care to explain?

(Codine) #40

Old Brink look so much better. How the hell did we end up with what we have now? Like seriously now. That old footage of Brink, whch was a previews years before the game came out, looks incredibly better. I guess we could thank bethesda for telling them to make it more console friendly.
