So, them skill upgrades.

(Nerfed) #1

Every time you level up, you gain 1 ‘Credit’, with which you can enable or upgrade a single skill on one of the 4 classes.

With 4 classes, 10 unlockable/upgradeable skills each, I’d imagine 20 points is… rather scarce, if anything. What has SD done about that? Will we be able to freely undo things?

With so many available skills, I’d imagine that I’d first like to try out one skill, then another instead, to see which one I like more. If Credit usage is permanent, this may be a problem. I have seen it in many games, that you at first think you’re going the right way with the skills you’re using, then once you hit the lv20 cap, you realise you missed some actually important skills, and wasted quite a few Credits as well.

So, any way to undo the use of Credits, or completely wipe your skill trees so you can re-distribute the Credits?

Abilities can be completely reset for the hefty price of subtracting one whole level.

I believe that you can select and unselect skills as you wish you will just be limited to 20 at a time. at least that’s what it looked like in the trailer shots I spied.

(CapnHowdy21) #4

You can drop a level to respec your abilities. So if your level 20, you can drop down to 19 to reassign your 19pts and then gain level 20 back.

Ah, I’ve been corrected. :infiltrator:

(BiigDaddyDellta) #6

Hopefully there might be some DLC with a level cap upgrade. 20 levels isn’t really a whole lot. but after that I believe XP is for purchases right?

(Hyperplutonium) #7

sigh you only get 20 points for each character (one each level) so you can’t have all the skills on one character (All the class skills and universal skills.) Next.

(iezza) #8

So, if im level 2 and i want a level 3 “perk” and i select a level 2 one,for the time being, when i come to level 3 i have to downgrade back to level 1. makese sens… no wait. lolwut? makes no sense.

(Linsolv) #9

Here’s the setup. You’re level 2 and you want a level 3 perk with your level 2 point. So get level 4, you reset 1 level (now you’re level 3) and you spend your points.

(Although, rumor is that you can, with skill and determination, get the first 5 levels in 1 game. So that’s a little moot)

It’s also worth remembering that many abilities will be mutually exclusive, or useless based on your play style. I, for instance, have no intention of EVER getting “grenade shooting” except as a thing to play with on my 8th or 9th character. I don’t really want/need “sense of perspective,” that 3rd person perk. There, with almost no thought and without even needing to look at a list, I’ve cut the “general” perks down to 8 that I need to choose between, and this can be done with each class. If there’s only, say, 6 abilities that sound good to you per class, then you can easily get all the general abilities, and 2 full class ability sets, with points to spare.

(Hyperplutonium) #10

What are you on iezza?

(BiigDaddyDellta) #11

I wonder if they even go by levels.

(Herandar) #12

Abilites are unlocked by rank, not level.

And Linsolv, I’m pretty sure the rumor is that good players can almost get to level 2 in their first game. Not level 5.

(CapnHowdy21) #13

I think you can get to level 2 just by watching the tutorials.

The rumor was that people could “nearly get to rank 2” in their first game. Of course, most games have a really easy first few levels.

(Chili Squirts) #15

I plan to spec with mainly buffs, support, and universal abilities, with maybe turrets if they don’t suck. Hopefully, if I can spec it just right, it will look something like this.

1 - Combat intuition
2 - Battle hardened
3 - Sprint shooting
4 - Sprint Reloading
5 - Weapon Buff
6 - Improved Weapon Buff
7 - Max supply increase
8 - Supply restore speed increase
9 - Command Post improvement
10 - Command Post Firewall
11 - Mark Enemy
12 - Body armor
13 - Health Buff
14 - Improved Heath Buff
15 - Adrenaline Buff
16 - Lazarus Grenade
17 - EMP Grenade
18 - Light turret
19 - Medium turret
20 - Gatling Turret

Impossible. You can’t get Lazarus Grenade & EMP Grenade until Level 20.

(indirect) #18

Has anyone made a talent calculator yet?

(TehPanda) #19

Tutorials net 1k xp for watching, the first game usually gets you to around 1.5 - 2, least from what I played.

(Deadbeat836) #20

I plan to focus on universal and soldier. Any extra ability tokens will go to Engineer or Operative. So while some of you guys will go the jack of all trades master of none, I rather be the master of 1-2 classes.
