so the new pinneapple juggler.... sigh

(moonlitAbility) #1

im happy they are trying real hard to improve the sucky perks… and when I read the pinneapple juggler changes i was pumped. I thought they made it more skillful and practical and cool…

then I spent 2 full matches trying to actually pull off a juggle. all i accomplished was bottom scoring both times, with 0 successful juggles. has anyone gotten this to work? because despite initial success, i still think it should be removed and replaced with something useful

(blisteringOwlNest) #2

What’s happened to it? Didn’t see the notes. And yeah, I have a feeling some bad perks just won’t be recoverable

(doxjq) #3

I reckon they should just change the perk to “take less damage from a frag grenade” or something useful.

I’ve played about 150 hours of Dirty Bomb (which isn’t a lot compared to some of you, I know) but I don’t know… Have 10-15 friends playing it aswell, most with 200+ hours, don’t think any of them have ever been able to use it.

How does it even work? I have a gold Proxy with pineapple juggler which I often use and I don’t ever recall being able to use it. I assumed when a frag nade was at your feet it would say something like “push X to throw away” or something but I don’t remember ever being able to use it. 90% of the nades thrown in my direction have been cooked and instantly explode in my face any way. Very rarely will you see a fragger nade on the ground for a long period of time.

(moonlitAbility) #4

apparently now in the new patch notes… you can melee it to hit it back… and in theory it works on more stuff like fletcher nades and airstrike markers… but i couldnt manage to get it off, and in hundreds of hours ive still never even seen it work

(doxjq) #5

That I was unaware of. I’ll give it a try tonight. But does it tell you on screen or are you just supposed to hit them randomly if you notice them?

If it doesn’t tell you, that’s totally retarded. Who the hell is going to try and melee a fletcher nade up close lmao.

(moonlitAbility) #6

from the notes:

Pineapple Juggler - Now allows you to melee hit back mid-air grenades and other projectiles
This also includes Airstrike Markers, Heartbeat Sensors and even Sticky Bombs and Molotov Grenades if timed correctly

(doxjq) #7

Only in mid air? Wtf though. Who even sees a frag grenade being thrown. Chances of being able to use this perk are like literally 1 in 100 if not higher I reckon.

SD should’ve just made Pineapple Juggler automatically throw back nades when they hit you.

And if that’s too much of a hard counter for every merc with some sort of grenade, then only make Pineapple Juggler automatically bat back grenades when you have a melee weapon equipped. Best of both worlds.

I totally agree, rushing Naders with knife/cricket bat would be atleast interesting ;p

(Szakalot) #10

they could make the melee bounce more forgiving (bigger time window, dont have to aim at nase exactly) but please no auto-bounce. that would get very silly very fast

(moonlitAbility) #11

autobounce would probably need a cooldown of like 30 seconds, but it would at least be useful… also, not sure if it works on nader grenades? or the one thing i may actually be able to hit with a melee weapon

(p4v) #12

I got too excited about this change. After trying it out it’s only slightly more useful than it was before…

If you cricket bat a nade it really needs a special audio clip to play.

(Ardez1) #14

Well, it also works for airstrike markers, sticky bombs and stokers Molotov. Did I mention airstrike markers? Because airstriker markers!!! I can’t wait to see somebody bat an airstrike marker away from the EV midair. In particular in a tournament for some clutch moment. Would be great to see.

Anyways, still too soon to call the change useless. We will see what happens. Not everybody knows about the change as not all players read patch notes.

(Grave_Knight) #15

I rather it just cues a contextual ability to throw airborne explosives. Basically when it gets close enough it prompts the F key. Press it while it’s still on screen and you make the fuse 1 second long or the rest of the time (which ever is longer) and toss it your facing.

(torsoreaper) #16

Just make it a grenade damage reduction perk and be done with it. NOBODY wants pineapple juggler.

(Mr-Penguin) #17

We already have Unshakable for that.

Sorry but, there will never be a time in DB where throwing back nades is going to be useful…
We all know too well that DB is a fast paced game and throwing back nades is not going to be the smartest idea nor is it easy. Out of all the nades we can throw back.

Fragger/Thunder - Always cooks it, blows up in your face
Nader - Explodes on contact, not a good idea
Fletcher - Self-Explanatory

Hitting back airstrike markers? You have to be real accurate and precise for this.

(Ctrix) #19

I feel you have 0 chance to see an enemy throwable, switch to melee and actually play out your hit animation before the thing has had time to hit you in the head 3 times over.

I also feel if someone actually manages to get good at this, it will be highly frustrating. Imagine a Fletcher, now imagine him killing you with your own bombs instead of his.
This ability HAS to be super useless, if it’d actually be reliable it would break the game.
I’d highly prefer the enemy just taking less damage. That would be a quality perk right there. Being able to survive a Fletcher sticky at 80hp on Proxy or Kira, I’d use that.

(Dirmagnos) #20

So, from being totally useless due to its mechanics, its now as equally useless but vs more objects.
They should make it autouse perk, with .2 sec execution delay and and 5 sec cooldown.
