still bothers me that they’re so easy to use, the lack of sway and accuracy reduction from constant shots, shooting abnormally straight (even for a video game). With everyone whining about aimpunch it’s just going to make vassili mains even stronger as it’s one of the only things keeping him in check. I thought combat arms snipers were easy to use, but so far Vassili is on his own level.
so snipers...
It’s actually surprisingly difficult to get headshots, if they only go for body shot damage it’s easy but actual kills not so much. Look at the kills of the average sniper post game, they rarely have many and are almost never at the top.
It’s just super annoying when you DO die those one or two times.
Hah, I know sniping is a problem in this game when I can go 41/7 as Vas, I have to be the worse sniper in Battlefield. There definitely needs to be more skill involved, it’s too easy to lock down a spawn direction.
I think most experienced snipers feel it too, at least among my friends, they are all snipping on Sparks now with the revir. Taking away the challenge isn’t fun for anyone.
I wouldn’t mind seeing instagib go, that’s about it though. I actually feel this might hurt him too much, if he can’t take people out permanently he’d probably be more useful with a rifle.
I used to main Vassili (I remember shooting your head off a couple times) until I realized how much more you can get done by getting in the fight rather than kicking back. I’ve also never had a problem going against him. Most of the time if you’re looking for him he’s a sitting duck. There are so many mercs that if they play their role right can deny him constantly. If your team runs around like headless chickens not wondering where Vasilli is then that’s your teams fault. Vasilli doesn’t need a nerf, buff or tweak. He’s fine the way he is.
your implying the vasilli is bad and staying in the same place. People who KNOW how to play vasilli are constantly changing their position.

People who KNOW how to play anyone besides Vassili can counter Vassili.
I think he’s a bit too powerful right now but when the smoke comes in that should even it out a bit.
Yes but it should make it a lot harder to shoot you in the head. I guess it’s possible that someone could know exactly where to aim based on the sensor marker but at least removing the sensor is relatively trivial.
If you guys think sniping in such a fast paced game is easy, can you please teach me your magic. ty.
You never really tried the class am i right? Unless you stand still it actually require ton of skills to land an headshot, more often than not you have to go for a bodyshot and even then you can often miss the shot. Moving light mercs are a pain to hit.

I think Arty is OP aswell. It’s a huge problem when I can go 93/-1. No but seriously… I’m just making a joke here but it’s pretty easy to say this and that is OP. If he’s that easy then you shouldn’t have a problem posting in a few pictures of those insane KDRs.
Also people who KNOW how to play shouldn’t be penalized just because they’re good.
i have a medical condition that stops me using vasaline. its called testicles.
Joking aside i hate him i really do. and lets not call it sniping that speaks to a discipline and level of marksmanship just not present in this game. the camping rifles are ridiculously easy to use. the hit confirm is about the most forgiving in any game ever you can miss by a meter and a second and still get the headshot.
it takes all the skill of clicking a desktop icon, then because this is a team obj map its narrow and straight not more round/square like a DM map , so its very hard to get past his team to kill him. and even if you can flank him stick a remburg in his ear hole and dispense some justice its propbably taken you longer to work your way there than you going to put him out of position for.
Only true against bad players. Try playing Vassili, effectively, against people with half a brain and you find real fast that he is one of the hardest classes in this game to do well with. Headshots in this game ARE NOT easy, body shots are only mildly effective and if you’re good you’ll (if nothing else) be on gibb duty on downed enemies.
Sorry, I am just tired of people throwing this statement around because it’s pure BS. Everyone says “It’s so easy, it’s so easy” yet I see maybe ONE good sniper every few days. Most snipers can’t hit shit, the ones who can hit shit can’t ever hit the head of a moving target.
The only time he seems godlike is against bad players, which generally goes hand in hand with complaint threads (See the Phantom effect.) Why? Because bad players move slow, in a straight line and or completely stand still. Trust me, after practicing getting headshots on a wall bouncing Aura for a few rounds and hitting players like that in the face is insulting easy and they DESERVE it.
Sway would be stupid, there is accuracy problems with after you shoot, you’re blind if you don’t think you need to re-center and of course the damn bullets go straight, it’s the point of the weapon. The fuck you want it to do, zigzag to the target?
Also, fun fact. Aim punch isn’t and almost never has been a factor for Vas because his popular loadouts have Focus in it and even then a good Vas more than likely isn’t going to be shot by you in the first place because a good Vas isn’t sitting in the open waiting for you. So the “only thing keeping him in check” as you put it, isn’t even a factor for him to begin with which just goes to speak to your lack of understanding of how the hell Vas actually works in a proper game.
Sorry, I know. I seem like a jerk and am being harsh right now but I get sick and tired of seeing these threads just like I got sick and tired of seeing all the Phantom threads, especially when the vast majority of the information or “Opinions” are just factually wrong. It gets on my nerves after awhile.
Gl and hf.
Since I can’t quote on my phone. It doesn’t matter where he moves to there is only a certain amount of spots Vasilli is viable from. When you play Vasilli for awhile you learn those spots and learn to always check there for him.
Also no. The funny thing is when I did play Vasilli I was able to camp the same spot over and over because generally players are too stupid to check the same spot I was just killed at. A good Vasilli doesn’t need to move around a lot. A good Vasilli knows where he should be to provide maximum coverage for his team. Obviously you aren’t experienced with him yourself or you’d know this.
The reason bad players think Vasilli is OP is because all bad players have one thing in common. Tunnel vision. Look for Vasilli and you won’t have a problem with him. Ignore him and rush a good Vassilis LoS and you’re dead.
If there’s a reason to why he’s so easy to play it’s not because the merc it’s because players in pubs are so predictable. Yes please run in a straight line towards me. Please jump so you fall in a predictable arc. Oh and while you’re at it try and plant that c4 or fix the EV while you’re staring right at me. The only reason players don’t like him is because of the insta gib that let’s you know that you fucked up. Learn from your mistakes and become a better player.
The moment we have a complete roster and more tools in the rock-paper-scissor drawer, we can finally have a relevant discussion.
So many counters still not in play, from smoke to shields to whatever else cooking.
Vassili is super easy to use against even a full pub team of 8 newbies.
Vassili is far less effective against at least two experienced players who are familiar with the map and how to move quickly/less predictably.
Smoke won’t save you from his heartbeat sensor.[/quote]
The heartbeat sensor gives you a vague idea of where someone is. IR vision shows Red-Eye exactly where the Vassili is and lets him easily countersnipe.
Shame it isn’t for most pubs though.
