So I've tried....
Big Teams??? Big Teams isnt the problem here, its the retarded Standard mode which is default set and people accidently join often when looking for Big Teams, Standard is only 8 max human players, Big Teams is 16… LOL love how you think Big Teams is the problem but not the Advanced/Old School/Comp which tend to play almost exactly the same considering it isnt often that Advanced or Old School get more then 5v5 for long periods of time.

I wouldnt mind playing those other modes but often people dont plan them out so I am not gonna join a random match not knowing what classes or characters (body type/abilities) are needed or already there. Also when you arent playing with friends or people with mics it really just ruins the whole point of those game modes. Not saying the matches are always that way but OFTEN they are underpopulated and filled with players who didnt plan out anything ahead of time and dont have mics to plan anythign out during the game.

Big Teams gets more FULL and STEADY matches then any other game mode and often randoms join up and then end up in the chats and playing regularly. Also dont get all the whine and hate for the BOTS, they arent that bad, they can be stupid but they also shouldnt be winning the match FOR YOU and often they are much better then humans (medics and soldiers) when it comes to supporting players and keeping them in the fight. They are just filler anyway until humans join up and honestly would rather have a filled match with bots then a 2vs2 (or 3v3 or 4v4…) where the match feels totally empty, slow paced and seriously lacking any kind of class gameplay as your lucky to even have 1 of each class.

If anything they need to make it just Big Teams, Old School/Advanced and Comp, Scrap the Standard and either O.S. or Advan… Especially since they all have a stopwatch option as well.
WTF man. I don’t understand why you guys on PS3 still have Big Teams on your selection options. On 360 they got rid of it and we have only had standard for quite some time, (someone told me otherwise the other day, but I checked again last night and no big teams option was there) and our Standard allows for up to 16 humans in the match. I’m sure on that because that’s how I set up matches every night.

(wolfnemesis75) #22

Maybe they are testing out both modes further and both are evenly distributed? Hard to say. It is weird.

(Oschino1907) #23
Well Im just saying to scrap Big Teams because Big Teams is what Standard was meant to be before they added Big Teams due to lag. Seems like they removed Big teams on the Xbox360 but not the PS3 for whatever reason. I agree though get rid of or combine the dif game modes so we can stop fracturing this community. Standard(big teams), old skool, and competition are where it should be.

And on the note of bots I dont find them to be the bane of my existence but I have been in many games with bots where the bot will completely fudge up a big ol W because they pick up an objective and DONT deliver it. Or when you’re playing lvl 20 hard bots and they can 180 turn and headsnipe you when you get the drop on em lol.
LOL I get what you mean but come on, no diff then a really good player gettin you, frustrating but you’ll live to fight again.

Also I like the Big Teams name better, I think it would sound cool to have Big Teams, Old School and Competition. Standard just sounds bland and boring.

I don’t have anything against Bots…they are a good addition. Its just that personally, if there are 4 humans in a match, I’d rather play 2v2, than play 8v8 with 12 bots. Its not because they are stupid or not…(although it can be annoying when they pick up the passcode or something)…its just because they aren’t real people, so there isn’t as much pleasure from competing with them.

Plus, small games are very entertaining, as they are more offensively biased. Imbalances are more noticeable, so we do a good job of switching teams.

But the cool thing about Big Teams, is that you can play whatever you want. Heavies are more effective in bigger games… And with 7 teammates there is less responsibility on a single person…so people are free to snipe if they want to, or capture command posts or something…whereas you have to be more efficient in a smaller game.

I’d like it cut down to two playlists on PS3…
Big Teams: 8v8, Bots, Objective
Competition: 5v5, No Bots, Friendly Fire, Stopwatch

Keep Command Post buffs on for both… The Health only ones give you about one SMG bullet’s damage worth of health. So they are only really useful for ammo and class switching whether CP Buffs are on are off.

But a much better option than playlists would be to have a custom game browser, where you can setup a match with any settings, and your game is added to a list of games that anyone can join. (Would love to see weapon settings, so that I could set up a FRKN-3K only match…or maybe a Sea Eagle only match…)

If that can’t be done, they could always just add warmup mode to private matches… That way people can setup BigTeams matches with VOIP on at least.

I would probably still be playing brink if that happened. Good idea.

(wolfnemesis75) #26

^streamlining the playlists is a swell (great) idea. +10

(Acorn1021) #27

Lol wolf I think you don’t know that’s me Nick. The kid who got ip banned.

I told you an ip ban can’t stop me

(Tandem) #28
This goes out to all those who hate Bots:
Without bots, Brink would devolve into matches with 8v1 like Gears of War matches.
On consoles you guys can’t change teams mid-match?

(AmishWarMachine) #29

Streamline the playlists, or eliminate ping restrictions for matchmaking.

Hell, do both.

(AmishWarMachine) #30

we can. but not many people are willing to take the plunge into being grossly outnumbered until the teams even out.

(Oschino1907) #31

It’s understandable but no excuse when a fresh match starts… Thats my general rule.

(peteXnasty) #32

How about they never had bots period and instead built a proper matchmaking and lobby system like EVERY OTHER GAME ON THE INTERNET so games would fill up and stay filled rather than creating a new game every time you search for one?

This is the main thing that I felt ripped off about; that we the players had to do the job of the game in order to actually play the game online as advertised. I dont want to fill my friends list with strangers or join chat rooms; I want to push “join game” and join a goddamn game. With people. Like I thought I was gonna be able to accomplish.

Even right after launch with the peak number of players, you would still get your own game created and maybe 2, 3 others would join rather than the game placing you in a match in progress (like it should) where you can stay and start the next round fresh

God the entire backbone of this game makes my blood boil its so flat out stupid. Games like COD didn’t build success from great gameplay; it built success from streamlined ease of use. It is by far THE easiest game to get online, get in a group, and get playing by a landslide. Its one of those subtle things you take for granted until you pick up a game that lacks it.

(Acorn1021) #33

It was pretty hard to play with 3 other friends. Sometimes we didn’t want to play a certain character at some times, so the level restriction ****ed us up.

And when the highest level DID search, we would only get bot matches.

(wolfnemesis75) #34
Lol wolf I think you don’t know that’s me Nick. The kid who got ip banned.

I know you are Nick hence the 1021. You are a troll. But every 50 posts you actually post something worth while probably by accident or without realizing. Probably not a good idea to troll about how you got banned. Its easy to fix. Best way would be to go somewhere else, or contribute worthwhile stuff, or “constructive criticism”. But remember, what you perceive as “constructive” others may think is “destructive”.

(wolfnemesis75) #35

You can. I do, but you’re still down a man somewhere, that’s why the bots come in. And if you whip a team bad enough they WILL rage quit in a team-based game. Its like dominos. When one falls the others start to think: “Now we have no chance if peeps quit!” Or if one guys quits because its bedtime or suppertime; now you are down a man.

Remember: as I’ve said before, I am a Gears of War fan. Played many many matches of 2v1. Ranked matches of 4 v 1 (I was the 1). Not fun. You need bots.

As a side note: in Reviews of Brink, everyone made reference to COD but never made reference to Gears of War. I think Brink is more like Gears of War than COD every day of the week. Without the chainsaw and aliens. I think Gears of War gamers have a better time “getting it” with Brink than everybody else…

COD is an individual game that divides 16 players into two teams so there is a deathmatch counter. If someone quits during a match, it doesn’t matter. There is little skill or teamplay necessary. You can literally hide or camp somewhere with a sniper and the match continues. People do quit games and will quit if they are losing.

We do not play games in a vacuum. Basically you don’t like Brink. Every one of your posts states that clearly. So everything has a negative spin.

Rather than a match stopping after Security Rage Quits on CC, with bots, the game continues on, allowing stronger-willed (new players) to join the fray DURING the match. Its drop in and out play (which is FUN). You can’t drop into a match IN PROGRESS in COD. Man you guys just don’t get it: BRINK is not EVER going to be COD. Once the lobby starts a match, you can’t join a match already in progress, can you?

Some other games that have bots in Multiplayer: Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, Unreal Tournament 2004, UT3, ET:QW, Frontlines: Fuel Of War, etc. All Team Based Games

BRINK is NOT like COD save for it being a FPS!

(RabidAnubis) #37

I think standard should be old school mode really…

Only humans.

But then again, we need a gamemode that everyone will join.

Everybody likes Be Objective 2 Stars! I know that for sure.

(Wildkarrde) #39

Takes about 30 secs to change sides as well + you can’t change sides for an additional 15-20secs if games started or you’ve just joined and worst of all few people make the attempt.

(Gorilla Gunk) #40

I’ve actually gotten into quite a few Big Team matches on Xbox.

It’s finding people to do challenges with is the problem. There’s like no way I can do Tower Defense 2 on my own, no way.
