So is there an ETA to the next patch?

(Hot-Wire) #1

I haven’t posted in a while, since I’ve been distracted by other stuff, but how is that patch coming along? I didn’t find any info on it after my quick look-see through the forums. Any updates?

(coolstory) #2

Badman said they’d let us know when they have a specific date.

(tangoliber) #3

I hope they take their time, since it is probably the big farewell patch for Brink.

(BioSnark) #4

Agreed, but it would also be good for Brink if they could showcase it on the esl tourney.

I too have pretty much stopped playing brink, but I’ve been checking around the forum waiting on the next patch. and like you said, i think it is the last thing we are getting. what bugs me though is the fact that at this point, five months after game release and they are still working on gun balancing. Mind you, i agree that the weapons could use a tune up (lower spread mostly). But really my point is that weapon balancing should have been done pre-release, not five months after. same thing goes for clan site. and correct me if I’m wrong but what we are getting is a clan “SITE” and not actual clan “SUPPORT”, right? I feel that five months after release devs should be working on dlc not things that should have been working on release date. And for what its worth, I think that they are not giving an ETA cause they really want to feel like they are working without a stressful deadline. And to me that means that the next patch is at least 6 weeks away. Most likely, 8 weeks.

Probably 1 day before the release of BF3 in a desperate attempt to keep some players

On the official game’s twitter site somebody asked:

@Bethblog @brinkgame Are there plans to bring out anymore DLC or updates to Brink?”

The answer was:

@ElectroWide nothing announced at this time”

Doesn’t sound too good if you ask me. I know that over in the steam forums badman said they’d be working on gun balance but afaik NOTHING has been heard about any updates, patches or DLCs in the meantime. I am concerned…

Alright, thanks for the response.

I guess it is a waiting game now lol.

I think Brink has a lot of potential. I’ve been playing for a while now and hope they continue to support it. I agree some of the areas need to be worked on (bots actually completing main objective instead of standing 2 feet from it and shooting the enemy, and shot guns seem to be useless).

They created a unique story and nice movement system. I think with a little map and weapons tweaking they could have something very special. The game plays a lot like TFC 2 and that is not a bad thing at all. Maybe they could fix these issues and ask some review sites to give it a second look. I am sure some good re-reviews could bring players back. They could stand to lose a lot of money and fan base (of Splash Damage) if they don’t.

After Quake Wars they really needed something to push them back up on top.

Que?

I’m confused.

Maybe that helps. I am not talking how well made it is. The longevity of it. It never got the fans it deserved.

I have no problem with either games but they never reached anywhere near the fan base of games like TF2 or COD. Its a tough market and if a developers games are not on top we see the studios disappear fast now. They are getting more expensive to produce and if your product does not sell the developer and publisher both lose a lot of time and money.

(BioSnark) #12

wouldn’t want to see that graph with brink :frowning:

(pacman84) #13

Then I’d advise you to not look at this link:
http://steamgraph.burstpixel.net/index.php?action=graph&appid=22350&from=0

Anyway, I hope that BRINK will stay around a little longer. The more I play it, the more I like it.

(tokamak) #14

They should take all the time they need, it’s not like the playerbase is going anywhere.

I don’t see anything ?
I tried all buttons

(pacman84) #16

It works for me… strange.
Hope you can see this then:

Anyway, it just shows how much player numbers have declined with brink.

(Crytiqal) #17

That graph is exactly the way I imagined it

EDIT: It works in Firefox…

(pacman84) #18

Yeah, you can nicely see the little upwards dip of the free weekend.
It’s a shame. Just as I said. I like it more and more the more I play the game.

That weird peak captures the feeling of ‘Oh hey free weekend, maybe they fixed the game as well NOAP CHUCK TESTA’

(tangoliber) #20

I wouldn’t be mad if they just made in permanently free to play. I know some people would be angry that they paid for it…but I don’t care about money…I would just be happy to have a more active community.

Maybe f2p players get only 2 characters, or they get 1 pre-made character for each class and no customization options. Players who bought the game get 10 and they no longer have a re-spec penalty.
