So, how's Sparks ?

(Ardez1) #61

I had some time to play her last night for about two hours. I am loving the new mechanics she brings to the game. We were on Trainyard at the 2nd objective and my teams Vassili who was in the warehouse window went down to a Fragger. I shot him through the window on the second floor and he killed the Fragger who had passed him by without gibbing.

The REVIVR is amazing and it makes playing medic a lot more fun imho. I was topping the leaderboard with 4-5 kills when 2nd had 30+ kills. I was getting the 20 revives award almost every single match played. Revive sprees were flying fast.

I have had no issue with using the machine pistol has a primary. I was focusing on being a medic and practicing with the REVIVR for most of those games, but when an enemy got close the MP worked wonders. Particularly good after you soften an enemy with the REVIVR at range and finish them when they close.

She seems neat, thinkin’ of buyin’ her.

(ostmustis) #63

shes wierd, dont know what to think of her yet

(Dirmagnos) #64

Revive gun revives should have small aoe. Try to revive a Bushwalker whos down under his own turret, its next to impossible.

(srswizard) #65

My advice is to not buy this merc, until the developers fix the hitboxes, it’ll save you from a bunch of bullshit-moments.
Such as, your revives doing nothing, and you getting killed, because you’re wasting extra 5 seconds trying to revive one downed player.

(Ghosthree3) #66

Lmao, wow. Wonder why no one else has mentioned, or did they and I missed it.

(Amerika) #67

Pretty much everyone knows of this that has played her and anybody who has been playing for a while knows of the oddities that happens with downed bodies so this shouldn’t be shocking (horrible pun).

However, it doesn’t happen all the time. It is frequent enough to be annoying and too frequent to trust in an actual competitive match though. However, the concept of the class and how fun she is to play weighs more for some people than others.

SD really needs to do a bug pass on downed players and their hurtboxes in general.

Yes, I played her for awhile and experience the same issues. Such a pain and it is frustrating because so many times I will be trying to revive, hitting with no revive going off, and then the wave timer hits and the player taps out to respawn… I’ve missed out of a lot of revive because players didn’t realize I was trying to pick them up and the dart was just passing through them.
I’ve played her all evening, thoughts:

If you can’t score headshots its gonna be the weakest, just try shooting a bushwhacker turret with empire-9: its a lost cause.
It doesnt feel accurate in game, not to mention i can kill 3 people on one mag a lot of time with mp400 but i struggle to kill 2 people with empire.

One mans trash is another man treasure i guess.

Burst your shots in 5-8 and you’ll notice massive improvement with the Empire-9. It has the highest RoF so the recoil gets surprisingly out of hand.

(Amerika) #71

Emp9 is also quite good with ADS in some situations. If a person is stationary or moving fairly close to you in a predictable manner and not firing at you (and nobody else is shooting you) you can laser beam their head ridiculously easy with the gun.

(Ardez1) #72

Does anybody else think that the default bind(5 or E) for pulling out the REVIVR is annoying? I would change my keybinds, but then it would throw me off for other mercs. I would love to see her E and Q swapped as it feels like the REVIVR should be considered her ‘Primary’ ability and the small medpacks should be ‘Secondary’.

(Dirmagnos) #73

Imo it should be adjustable for every merc. What ability is considered what.

Man. I wanted to like Sparks. I still want to like her. I’m just not sure I do. I mean, she does revives really well ( bugs notwithstanding ). I found a safe spot to camp on Chapel, by the EV garage, and it was just beautiful. Revives for days. Unfortunately, she’s just . . . bad at everything else. Which, yeah, maybe that’s the idea. I just feel like she could’ve stood to have a proper primary.

As it stands, I still don’t have a medic in the game I enjoy playing. To me, they’re all lacking something I can’t quite place. A sort of fun factor, you know? To make them enjoyable, and not just practical. To me, I mean. I get people have fun with them. I just don’t have as much fun as I would’ve liked.

why did u have to give out the best revgun spot in the game… now i cant finish my water boy missions in 2-3 games anymore T_T… u evil person…

(triteTongs) #76

That’s how I felt at first.

In fact it was really annoying in Evolve as well.

But I’m starting to get used to hitting E to pull out the res gun. Although I feel like hitting 12345 on the keyboard for this merc is totally backwards. I was tripping on that for awhile

I was playing her last night on Chapel, and on a fully charged shot she was damaging the EV. Granted it wasn’t much but you did see the EV healthbar move when she did the full power shots.

I’ve not seen any other hand held weapon do that, even Naddas Grenade Launcher. (though in the heat of battle I may have missed it)

(Gwarh) #78

I love her so far, it’s very useful to be able to res from a distance. The Revive Gun is also quite fun to use at range. And her med packs though small (30hp?) are insta-heals and she can toss 4 of them.

I still use them even when a Sawbonze or Aura are around as they insta-heal, and when the combat is hot and heavy you can’t have enough healing when being hit by multiple hostiles.

It’s not a “Bad” per say but she really is a Glass Canon. I think she has the lowest HP in the game no? 80hp? So her ranged heal and fast run speed is well balanced with her low HP and the recharge/overhead mechanic of her Revive Gun.

(Derpfestor) #79

I think she’s hot.

For those interested in seeing her in action before you buy, by a scrub player mind you, here you go:
