So, how's Sparks ?

(brawnyJester) #41

The beam gets offset sometimes it’s pretty annoying

(Amerika) #42

I jumped off the MG balcony on the first part of Terminal and mid-air revived somebody inside the hallway through the window. That was pretty fun.

(strawberryJacket) #43

So i gave her a little bit more time and i still think she is bad.

  • Bugged hit detection so you cant revive people at times
  • Overheats way too fast (especially with -25% charge time augument), you cant even aim with her while you have augument because it overheats in like a second.
  • Her healthpacks have way too long cooldown
  • Like some people noticed already, her beam does offset pretty often (is it spread ? no clue, if it was it would be pretty dumb)
  • Her best loadout comes with empire, i dont know why Szakalot like it but its horrible In comparison to other machine pistols. (and i even spent 17,5k credits for that crap ;( ).
  • Her healthpacks are hard to spot, fly in random directions (where you drop them under your feet and yet it somehow goes to your left or right) and it get stuck on the walls and other obstacles. I died a few too many times because of that.

The only thing she is good at is being a revive bot and, i say it without shame, i consider her the weakest combat merc in the game.

At the very least her ability needs to overheat slower and her healthpack need to have lower CD (i dont even use them to heal people, not really worth my time), and even then i dont think it would be enough.

She is fun to play so i will play her anyway, but against a fragger or rhino you are going to die every single time, kinda drains the fun.

EDIT:

Is it intentional for her revive gun to wreak EV so hard ?

(Temporary) #44

Definitely fun but is the subject of quite a lot of incoming fire once people realize she’s on the opposing team.

The hit detection on her Revivr gun needs to be tweaked badly, I’ve been shooting teammates from distance and up close, occasionally it takes 5 hits to trigger a revive unless you’re doing it from above the player.

(Szakalot) #45

I’ve played her all evening, thoughts:

  • Revive gun is amazing, with getup perk you can full-revive people across the map (you can ADS with revive gun if target is far). I sometimes miss like people mentioned above; but I mostly blame the wiggly body dodging my lazor, the more I played the less I missed revives.
  • Revive gun is a lot of fun. It acts as a kind of support-sniper rifle, and has deadly potential, though its pretty hard to score a fully-charged headshot
  • up close you are always better off with using your MP, missing a charged up shot is super dangerous, and she is squishy with 80hp
  • healthpacks are very poor. I’ve used the getup/battery/potent packs loadout, and it still takes my whole supply to bring one person up to full. much easier to just revive them again when they die from low HP
  • healthpacks can have very good uses on arming/defusing/repairing engineers, as they will eat them one by one when being shot at. Also effective at bringing sawbonez up to full hp quickly.
  • Proposed change: I’d like her medpack RoF buffed, so she can drop them quicker mid-fight and go back to shooting&reviving.

On the subject of machine pistols:

Empire is the most accurate of the 3. It also has highest RPM, and highest DPS. If you can score multiple headshots, you will rek’em.

If you can’t score headshots its gonna be the weakest, just try shooting a bushwhacker turret with empire-9: its a lost cause.

(avidCow) #46

This sucks. Stuck at work browsing this thread counting the hours before I can get home and start zapping some mercs.

(Amerika) #47

Yup, Emp9 is pretty great. It’s basically in line with the M4 and SMG9. Accurate and not a lot of bloom and you MUST hit headshots to be effective. If you don’t go for heads then you should use something else.

She is definitely the weakest combat medic. Her healthpacks are going to be awful for comp. It would be better for her to shoot teammates from range, kill them then full revive. Battery + get up = stupid quick fully HP revives.

(Claim) #48

Oh boy, i don’t know if anyone else noticed , but the REVIVR is really good at destroying objective ! seriously ! you can easily dent the EV by spamming shots but most interesting of all, it’s a lot faster than C4 to destroy Generators ! I don’t know if it’s something they planned to do, but it’s quite usefull ^^

(Humbug) #49

i don’t think light mercs will ever be viable in competitive
hp is just too freaking low, speed doesn’t help against people who can aim.
i don’t enjoy playing them.

example:
I had full hp, i knew the grenade was coming, i longjumped away, but still no chance to survive the 150 damage grenade… every random shit kills you

as many have already said: the hitboxes of the medipacks are to small. I feel like Shaquille O’Neal at free throws. I throw and the team mate makes a tiny step to the side and he does not get hit. I get the feeling, that team mates don’t seem them as good as the Sawbonez medipacks.

What the medigun needs is some kind of laser pointer, that indicates you are loading your gun. Multiple times team mates run into your line of fire and other medics will revive, not knowing you are already doing it. The laserpoint can be team only, but if the devs get the feeling Spark is op ( I don’t think so. I got better experience with Aura and Sawbonez.) the laser point could be visible for the enemy. This allows them to know where Sparks is without killing her. They can decide to take action or react to the constant revives.

I suck in combat with her. I don’t know why, but Aura and Proxy feel better. I just need a shotgun. :frowning:

(novelBastion) #51

I never used her main gun. That railgun is pretty good and on most maps its pretty easy to get headshots. Charge, jump around like crazy, get headshots or revive. Sparks. Reviving people to the far right or left on Trainyard is pretty fun. Across the entire map

(avidCow) #52

Packs are probably not good enough.

what are those weird colors for the explosion?

good point on light mercs, but I think it has more to do with the maps. a delivery map like Dome could def. benefit from very fast light mercs, generally: bigger map - mobility more important.

I’d also like to see unique light-merc trickjumps implemented into the map; with them in mind.

(Gi.Am) #54

After a couple more rounds I can say she is not for me. She isn’t that bad (standing hitbox issues aside). But she is more sniper than medic even tho longrange revives do have their uses. I feel that both Aura and Sawbonez have higher average revive counts per any given match. She is a great pick for people that main vasilli and need a medic in their squad tho.

btw. Humbug what arcane config hack are those red bubbles around the frag explosion?

that’s just my ultra low graphics laptop config, don’t know which command changes it :D.

the problem is if you’re faster you’re going to be alone and even more dead.
3 headshots for aura vs 7 headshots for fragger is such a HUGE difference speed can’t make up for
i would like to see
light mercs ~110 hp
medium ~ 130hp
fragger and rhino stay as they are

(Kouken) #56

RNG’ed the imo best loadout (empire, selbstadt, get up, quick charge and potent packs) so decided to buy her with $

Really enjoying the concept, need to learn to do it effectively

(GregHouseMD) #57

I had some good fun with her last night. I managed to get my hands on a sweet loadout ( only Iron, but the right tree, you know? ) just before signing off, so I’ll be trying that out today.

I definitely wouldn’t call her a ‘sniper’ in any sense. It’s technically possible, but the charge time makes it impossible to score those snap headshots. It’s still excellent in a lot of situations, though. I somehow managed to take down Rhino 1v1 up close with that thing, by using speed and conveniently placed boxes.

Med packs are definitely handy. They’re not much good for getting people back up after a fight, but during fights they’re a godsend. Which is obviously how they’re intended to be used, so it’s not much of an original observation, but it bears mentioning.

(Amerika) #58

I found her vs. Rhino was easier than most match-ups despite the massive HP difference. Her ability to peek quickly due to speed and pretty good damage from a charged up weapon made him fairly easy to beat. Especially with instant health packs in case you do take damage.

(Ghosthree3) #59

First impressions are she’s strong, very strong.

She’s not a fighter, she is not strong in that way. That’s not to say her weapon sucks, it’s incredible, it’s just not CQC tier. It’s ability to do damage at range is ridiculous though, for a support class.

What she excels at is standing back and playing the support role. Her weak medpacks are meant to offset her OP revive but I dunno if they do, especially when you can just have another medic doing the healing.

The ability to revive at range is no joke and you now have to gib every single body or you’ll end up with people reviving in front of and behind you. Simply holding medics back until it’s safer to do so is no longer an option. This is particularly nasty when the enemy is dead in a neutral zone where you can’t run out and knife them, because by taking the time to shoot them you could be killed.

Her medpacks aren’t exactly bad either, they just fulfil a different role and can be the slight edge in combat that wins a battle which might lead to a win overall.

Will be interesting to see if she gets changed.

(GregHouseMD) #60

Exactly my experience. I’m really surprised by it.
