So how is it? (PS3).

(JayXombie) #1

I’ve been gone on vacation for a while, and didn’t by it because the PSN was still down, so I’m wondering what are your guys thoughts on the game?

(ataliba) #2

I would tell you to wait a bit before you buy it… see how it goes…

(Oschino1907) #3

I know I will be playing all summer and have plenty of others to play with, there will be a strong community if its the kind of game for you.

(JayXombie) #4

I’m tempted to get it because of the weekend, but I won’t if it’s gunna go down in price or it’s not worth it.

(Oschino1907) #5

What kind of games are you playing now or have had a history of playing and what exactly are you looking for with Brink?

For me it got me right in the spot that BFBC2 and KZ3 couldnt itch and i am loving it, especially when playing with mostly human players. You will have to go out of your way to team up and add new friends until they get some sort of lobby system for console.

(ataliba) #6

playing with humans is really a lot of fun… but most of the times is just you, and maybe a couple of friends, as it stands.

(Oschino1907) #7

Well player counts arent gonna go up when people like you go around crapping on the game and trying to sway others away from getting it. Why not embrace new people and try to help them out with getting to know others playing the game to help build the community.
Its a BRAND NEW franchise here, If you like what is capable with this game and believe as i do that the sky is the limit with the possiblities this game allows then try to support it and recruit others that might find this game to be just what they have been looking for.

I’ve been playing MAG and Socom mostly. Very team oriented game play.

I’ve had a history of liking games despite criticism, as MAG was one of those games that wasn’t exactly competition for CoD.

I like the idea of the player with the better shot gets the kill, not a couple bullets killing you. I also love the idea of you having a special role in a squad, although I’m more of a Commando type player myself.

As far as level design, I like games that give you opportunities to be creative with your approach, so it always isn’t the same ol’ stuff. This is why I loved MAG because it had such massive level design.

Singleplayer has never been a big necessity for me, as FPS’ aren’t my go-to for good singleplayer, I leave that for games like Portal 2 and Dragon Age.

Sorry, but this is misinformation right now.

After playing since launch, games on the ps3 have dropped from 8v8 but with crippling lag, to an average of around 3v3 with better conditions.

Either the community is dying quickly or the matchmaking system is currently awful.

I spent 10 attempts last night to find a game worth playing. Five times alone I was dumped into a room by myself searching with the same options that minutes later put me in a game that had been going on for at least 15 minutes.

Brink is a very good game, but you might want to hold off until SD manage to bring it up to par.

U mad bro?

(fearlessfox) #11

I will start telling people it’s worth playing when it’s worth playing. Once the various issues are fixed I will plug the hell out of this game, but until then I’m not going to lie to people about the quality of my experience.

The ball is in SD’s court. The faster they fix things the faster we can start really supporting Brink.

So what I’m hearing is it’s laggy with a full lobby and the either the match making is broken or the community is slowing down a bit?

I know this sounds like I’ll be leaving if you say yes, but I’m a fairly patient person, so I’d end up just waiting to hear what happens.

(ataliba) #14

as it seems… it’ll probably get a lot better with the patch this weekend.

(JayXombie) #15

So you’re saying gameplay is great, but the only thing holding it back is the bugs and glitches?

(ataliba) #16

majorly yes…!

I thought about getting Socom 4 but got this instead, was really wanting a good team tactical game and i like the way socom 4 was in the beta but had a feeling this would be better.

I played MAG all the way through the beta and for a few months after release but I personally just got tired of the same stuff and low player counts considering i was more into the 256 player matches (ended up goin to BFBC2 and went back and forth for a while) but I have heard they continued to patch and add new modes and how many core apspects have been changed and now even a lobby system for Domination.
MAG was def worth it for me if it just showed them people did like it and want a MAG2, never thought the first would be too amazing but it had potential galore and I would def buy a 2nd one.

having said that dont listen to most of the haters and nay sayers, if you played MAG from beta or day 1 or Warhawk or many other classic ass amazing games then you know great games can have a rocky start with some issues but can go on to be those amazing classics due to high potential and strong communities. Dont see anything overly wrong with this game that wasnt also wrong with games like MAG upon release. I and many others will be here if you need someone to play with, dont even sweat all the others.

Plus the new DLC info is out and it looks like nothing but great additions to the game and hopefully a patch before to sort out a few things.

(fearlessfox) #18

Pretty much.

I played three hours last night in a room with 5v5 max. It was really, /really/ good fun.

It was rare though, and the first time I’ve had such consistent quality time with Brink on ps3 since launch.

Excellent game; hella requires support.

(JayXombie) #19

Thank GOD. Bugs and glitches are fixable, but if you get the formula wrong, you’re up ****'s creek without a paddle.

(fearlessfox) #20

The formula is golden.

Brink has /amazing/ potential.

Jump on board now and you’ll likely be frustrated, but you’ll be supporting a potentially wonderful future product.

Your call.
