So how is it? (PS3).
I thought about getting Socom 4 but got this instead, was really wanting a good team tactical game and i like the way socom 4 was in the beta but had a feeling this would be better.

I played MAG all the way through the beta and for a few months after release but I personally just got tired of the same stuff and low player counts considering i was more into the 256 player matches (ended up goin to BFBC2 and went back and forth for a while) but I have heard they continued to patch and add new modes and how many core apspects have been changed and now even a lobby system for Domination.
MAG was def worth it for me if it just showed them people did like it and want a MAG2, never thought the first would be too amazing but it had potential galore and I would def buy a 2nd one.

having said that dont listen to most of the haters and nay sayers, if you played MAG from beta or day 1 or Warhawk or many other classic ass amazing games then you know great games can have a rocky start with some issues but can go on to be those amazing classics due to high potential and strong communities. Dont see anything overly wrong with this game that wasnt also wrong with games like MAG upon release. I and many others will be here if you need someone to play with, dont even sweat all the others.

Plus the new DLC info is out and it looks like nothing but great additions to the game and hopefully a patch before to sort out a few things.
Yeah, the Socom 4 forums are a snake pit right now. We’ll see what happens with the game though. It doesn’t feel like the old Socom’s I’m used to, but it’s still a good game, besides no party system and some other flaws. Who knows if they’ll be fixed.

I bought MAG as soon as it was released, but missed the Beta. I’m about 12th Vet, and about 500 hours so far. I’ve met all my really good friends on that game, and when it was huge clan vs. huge clan, it was probably the funnest most unmatched kind of gameplay I’ve had. Lower player counts suck more for the later times, but during their peak player times it’s not bad, although I’m probably playing Domination 1/3 as much as I used to. The clan lobbies and party lobbies have a greatt addition, although clan wars are still missing which would have really made MAG amazing.

And from what I’m hearing Brink has the gameplay spot on, just needs some major TLC with the bugs and glitches.

I’m considering MAG.

Is it worth starting now?
The formula is golden.

Brink has /amazing/ potential.

Jump on board now and you’ll likely be frustrated, but you’ll be supporting a potentially wonderful future product.

Your call.
I appreciate the honesty. I supported Socom: Confrontation as long as I could, so I’ve more than developed for patience in a game with good potential.

We’ll see what happens this weekend.

Yeah Fearless Fox has been here waffling all day every day, he loves the game and all its about but supports trashing the game for minor things that can and will be fixed. He is one of those people that thinks all games are released perfect and so far has shown ver little faith in the Devs doing anything about it despite it only being out for a few weeks and them saying they are working on the issues and taking in feedback.
I have faith and have had it from day one, I know SD will deliver and the experiance will only get better with time. If youre a MAG person and were from the start i say jump on ship with Brink and ride it to greatness casue this game has potential and the Devs are gonna do all they can do improve it as much as they can for everyone.

Try before you buy.

They have a free trial (I think it’s forever) for MAG where you can play as long as you want but only until level 8.

If not rent it or buy it used. It’s really cheap now I’m sure.

MAG is a game where you need to play with friends. Player count at the odd times of the day can be frustrating if you want to play a 256 player game. Don’t consider any DLC besides Escalation, because the maps you get with them don’t get launched much anymore considering the player count.

Also, starting off can be frustrating, especially against (not to toot my own horn) players like me who are all leveled up. Your weapons suck, your equipment sucks. But when you gain levels, and get the weapons later on, it’s a blast, especially when you’re charging the enemy lines with your platoon, against another clan, and it’s all hectic and what not. Other times it’s not so great, because people don’t cooperate, and you get your butt kicked.

The bullet damage is also something to consider, it’s more like Brink in the sense that whoever has the better shot will get the kill.

How is offering honest experience and feedback about the lack of optimised matchmaking “trashing”?

You need a dictionary, clearly.

I hope you feel better now you’ve taken the time to directly assault me for expressing my opinion.

GG.

Lol another game you will buy over a yr after release and be blown away by what can be done just like with BFBC2 but from a whole nother angle in terms of not as open world but much larger scale battles with many objectives and actual leadership roles. But non the less you will come on here and sing its praises all day and wonder why its so fine tuned despite its current glaring flaws (although not gamebreaking by any means) and how Brink still has this problem and that problem that MAG had also during its Beta and early release which i was a part of along with a whole clan of friends. But you will know better then I, wont you…

Just kidding, hahaha no need to reply, just had to say it, lol!

I’ve supported numerous (types of) games from pre-release to fruition over the years.

Your input here is invalid.
