So... Are We Bringing Back Jump Sniping...

Yes this is a rant even though this is an old topic but I’ve been thinking about it and just doing that pisses me off.

Seriously, SD still has no words on this. I’m fine with nerfing it, but removing it with RNG? This is a heavily skill-based game and putting stuff with RNG is ridiculous, especially for a sniper rifle bullet. I’d be more than happy to accept ANY kind of penalty like a huge sway or loss of stamina or whatever as long as there is jump sniping which would require even more skill.
My salt level raised back up recently after all these months. I’ve been playing more DB because I’m on summer break and just so many times I had to expose myself by standing to get a clear shot rather than jump sniping. I can just imagine how fun it would be with Aimee’s fast speed and jump sniping, that would be amazing.
Also before anyone claims it’s “OP”, if you look in past discussions, no one has EVER mentioned that jumpsniping was OP or annoying. Hell, some people didn’t even know that was a playstyle. It was simply because it took skill and it was greatly rewarded when done correctly. It was until SD suddenly put RNG into jumpsniping with absolutely no reason which pissed Vassili players off.
As people had said before, BRING JUMP SNIPING BACK JUST BUT MORE SWAY/SPREAD/RECOIL/ANYTHING BUT RNG IN THE SNIPER RIFLE SCOPE WHEN JUMPING. It really isn’t that hard.

Not like smooth himself said it’s annoying. In every thread about it many people said it’s annoying to play against.
But now, suddenly, for the sake of the argument noone said it and SD removed it without any particular reason, but just because they wanted to?

Firstly I’d like to point out that this subject has been tackled into the ground by the community. If it be my guess, I can safely say MOST players do not agree with the nerf on jump sniping. Most people in fact acknowledged it as something skillful to do.

@Jostabeere Smooth never actually gave a full legitimate reason or justification as to why the nerf happened. All he said was something along the lines of it being annoying or frustrating when it happens.

Is jump sniping not a buff? How does adding no-spread to a sniper rifle while jumping take away from the process of content being created? Is your brain in working condition?

bunnyhopping shotgun is high risk high reward. while jump sniping usually is just behind a cover and then he jumps up and down. tell me, which one is easier to kill? bunny hoppers or a sniper with a cover across the map in which virtually imposible to outflank?

yea try to get close without getting detected by anyone. even phantom now cant even do that to an experienced snipers.

you get to cqc, you dead
you try to drop arty, he fled
you try to outsnipe him, hes behind a wall/ is jumping while sniping towards you

hell why dont we just remove all the vertical and horizontal spread on every merc arsenal and play clusterfug jumping rabbits?

yeah, how about rhino with minigun jump shooting and 100% accuracy.
How about jumping on other people to kill them. [FAT]
How about homing proximity mines, they just fly and explode on enemies.
How about uncloaked phantom kills.
How about homing sawbonez medpacks.
Kidding, everything is as good as it should be.

I agree on bringing them back.
They nerfed jump sniping which requires skill, but jump shotgunning requires no skill and is a lot more effective but they haven’t nerfed it.
They should bring back jump sniping but maybe do it like in csgo scout where you can’t shoot while jumping but only while falling, so the enemy team has a few mili-seconds to shoot you (and cause flinching which will ruin your aim) before your shot is accurate and you are able to kill them easily

And for the sake of the game nerf bunny Proxys’. Add a penalty if you jump too much or something

i thought they already have the penalty of jumping which you cant run after you just jumped.
and another penalty is you cant wall jump more than 2 times (which the third jump is just like a flop. but i did many chain super jump which is cool)

they should have implement if you shoot shotgun while jumping, you get knocked back and cant follow up the next shot because its either youre too far from your target or just plain no shot penalty.

In other words: jump-sniping is gone for good.

But for the sake of discussion, when you jump-snipe, you are effectively eliminating a good portion of the vertical aim required. How this tranlates to ‘more skill required’ is beyond me. At best, the skill requirement is exactly the same. It would help if this postulate was not always used as a central argument in favor.

Is this the newest in trolling technology?
“high risk high reward” What do you risk exactly when jumping with a shotgun? Your aim? It’s still piss easy to aim with a shotgun while jumping if you’re flicking like you’re supposed too, so you risk next to nothing while making yourself a harder target to hit, with jump sniping behind cover you have about half a second to see wtf you’re even shooting at, aim and fire. What are the chances that someone fucking jump sniping is going to kill you opposed to someone hopping around the walls around you with a shotgun? “Duuhhh they’re across the map! Impossible to outflank!” Is the same not true for a sniper standing completely still on the ground?

Again, is the same exact thing not true for a sniper standing completely still? How are you going to pretend like Vaseline is a massive threat in close quarters? The chances of someone on the ground out-sniping someone who is attempting to jump-snipe are much greater considering how hard it is to land those types of shots in the first place.

I think having 100% accuracy while hopping around like you’ve been on the sniff all night is stupid. However, Db is a fast paced shooter that encourages trick jumping so to penalize accuracy while jumping is a bad idea. Maybe have it so the spread increases the more you jump around, so the initial jump shot is more or less dead on but any jump there after will reduce accuracy. This will reduce the spam jumping but allow the snipers that want to use it for one tricky shot still be viable.
