Tankier then Healing Aura
Can just sit and aim for headshot for 5min because all accuracy/longrange fire isn’t sufficient and SMG’s are peashooters.
Headshots instakill
Barely any recoil

??? OP ???

Fraggers cooked nades are not gonna do it when all maps are open and you can get spawnkilled so easy.

Wish I could think of a countermechanic but all I come up with it:

Doing headshots with snipe being instagib is fair game
But if you’ve been near healing/medics you should be able to survive

Or give fragger/arty a helmet or something :S

No…? This is actually debatable because Vasilli depends largely on the skill of the player from what I seen.

I’d say Vasilli is pretty well balanced imo.

You’re rewarded for skillful play, and punished if you can’t manage it. He’s quite difficult to play if you’ve never played a game of this speed, or have never practiced mechanics at all.

If you’re used to it however, you can be a MAJOR threat.

Vasilli is in a perfect spot right now. We can’t really judge all that much about the game until we experience some actual competitive play. So far, from my experience in premade Vs. premade mm, Vasilli is not overpowered at all.

After playing more it’s not that hard but given the moment and location they can supress pretty hard by themselves and i’ve lost 1v1 duels against snipers.

Also knived one in the back giving him so much time that he can turn around and shoot me.

Can’t use binoculars to use art. strike so have to run towards him making you once again sitting duck.

Idk. I guess i’ll play the waiting game.

He needs less health and a shitty sidearm instead one of the best sidearms.

Currently he survives a backstab with a knife, which he shouldn’t. And his sidearm is better than some loudouts primary… cough Arty.

I don’t care if I get a fucking potato as sidearm If i can still keep hitting headshots, you people need to actually realize snipers are totally garbish mostly in competitive, you should be playing fragger or something if you want to insta gib ppl all the time 100% certainty.

You spot a sniper this is what you do.

  1. Crouch spam the shitout the keyboard
  2. Keep jumping and spamming m1’s and hit him couple of times -> aimpunch
  3. DONT GO WHERE THE SNIPER IS HOLDING THERE ARE USUALLY OTHER ROUTES TO GO LOL
  4. Look at number 1 - 3 again if you died to a sniper.
  5. If sniper is still hitting at you his good at the game.

@appreciativeBuster There are maps / parts of maps where snipers have a really good positions to shutdown routes, I agree, but there are ways to play around it, you can’t deny.

But way to ignore the rest of the points I made how to combat snipers. Have you actually played a sniper yourself like in a competitive game against a good players or just publics?

We can go on server 1v1 and you try to snipe me when I move with proxy or what ever and try to HS me consistently

Nah, I played some in alpha but not now. Too expensive xD

don’t mind me though, I will always hate shotguns/snipers in any game (except Wolfenstein) but I don’t want them to change anything other then that they shouldn’t survive knife in the back.
You know how long it took me to get there unnoticed ffs xD

you just m1’s with knife and you 2-3 shot them faster than with m2 lol, anyways I agree that sniping might seem powerful but there are lot of things that make it a lot harder than it seems on pubs.

for me there’s two options:
either keep it as it is, letting the snipers instagib with a headshot but keeping the aimpunch as well
or get rid of the aimpunch, but then let headshotted people be reviveable

seems fair to me

The problem with snipers are less the snipers and more the maps. Many maps are extremely sniper friendly and don’t offer much in the way of side routes to get around them. Chaple has this issue a lot as well as both trainyard and underground. It’s a fine balance between a map having too many paths making snipers useless, and not having enough making them very powerful.

This sums it up well, Snipers aren’t an issue if there are decent flanking routes in a game or a class designed to get behind enemy lines very easily to kill targets like this, aka Spy in TF2 vs the Sniper.

i totally disagree with the argument that vasilli needs skill - sorry.

no offense, but my aiming is really very medicore to low and when i tried out this guy i could get some fair amount of kills from the scratch.
usually i dont get any kills with a sniper, but this guy makes it - from what i experienced - quiet easy.

still i wouldnt nerf his primary weapon.
lower his health to make it easier to “chase him away” with good aimed shots.
weaker sidearms.

Its much harder to get kills against good players.

Sure, on a 8v8 pub you will get plenty, but people run around like chickens anyways.

On a 5v5 matchmaking you will find it hard to even get to your sniping position, and you’ll be flanked as soon as spotted. Also people will spam you so you can’t get out of the fox hole : )

as for the original argument:

Linkz is one of the game’s best snipers, and the team he’s with right now isn’t using him as a sniper. The reason is that sniper is outclassed by fragger.

Sniper can instagib with a headshot which can be very hard on crouchspamming adading players while also suffering from aimpunch (especially auras or proxies), fragger can instagib multiple people with a nade, literally the easiest ability in the game.

Fragger also has the k121, which will kill a sniper at long range if the sniper doesn’t hit the headshot right away before he has time to shoot the second shot.

Only place where vasili does well is pubs where he’ll be fighting players running in straight lines and won’t need to gib due to bad medics, as well as enemy fraggers not being able to kill the vasili at long range.
