My Map is three compiles away from Beta Stage.
Which means the private beta test shall i be in the next few days and all shall be notified who have applied.

i will need 0approx more people. pm me if you are interested - the beta test timing will be biased to Weastern Europe timing - but it shouldnt be to bad.

The alpha is 80% complete - as i said - by the end of today beta will be done.

i am leaving you all with some info and screenshots
Please tell me what you think of them - i need to people to tell me why they are so shit so i make my map better.

PS: This is my first map - i have never mapped before the 14th of July. Hey! it’s my one month anniversary to SD forums and mapping :smiley: wohoo!

I would like to test too… I can already see a few things that could use some tweaking from the screens, although I’d like to run around in it for a better feel :slight_smile:

Yeah, the map is looking very good.

Me, I like small maps, personally, but then again, I wouldn’t be playing wolf if I didn’t like big maps too :slight_smile: I can’t tell from the screens though–at first I had the impression it was much smaller than it actually is, but these screens seem a bit larger…maybe a shot from radiant to show it’s actual size…?

I can tell you that my mapcoordsmins and mapcoordsmaxs are as follows

mins -5120 5120
maxs 5120 -5120

making a perfect sqaure of 1024

i will not show you a picture of radiant - since that will give you insight on the various hidden passages and warnings - and also could give the “story” away.

Please pm me on what you see, i want to make a good impression on my first map.

Terrain has fallen foul of the old ‘looks too ordered’ problem that I so detest :frowning:

Smooth it off more (try gaussian blurring the edges etc), and also in easygen / radiant you can swap triangle pairs, so you could get rid of the annoying sticky-out bits that you see on the diagonal trenches everywhere in your top screeny.

Also looking at top pic it looks like you’ve used terrain textures that are all different sizes - it means they don’t match up properly when repeating at blended bits - take a look through - if necessary copy one of the textures you are using and resize it to match the others and use that as a new custom terrain texture.

Keep it up though :slight_smile:

i think it is kinda “empty” on the top, where the radar is
the boxes, the top panel can be aligned a bit better
Screen 5 is kinda empty too, make some more barrels instead of crates, maybe you can place a tank in it as model
and offcourse, the textures could be fitted a bit better
hope you’ll think about it when working on it
