Skill Ceiling: Heavy Vs. Light Bodytype

(Humate) #81

From what I know, lights can slide tackle + melee OHK combo any bodytype.

Interesting thanks Wraith

BRINK IS SLOW! get over it

From what I saw in teh vids the medium is a tad slowy for my taste, and seems slower than in W:ET of course, but I also dont want to be a chicken with 50HP, so if I play one day I’ll stay medium I think.

regarding the OT : As ragoo pointed out the heavies will still require alot of battlesense in order to be in the right place at the right time with the right weapon as they will be slower, its another form of skill if you ask me!

Peace

If you still can lead a target that is lagging, you have not experienced true lag.

Try leading something that disappears and telaports around the map.

(JeP) #86

Has having experienced mad lags became something to be proud of now ?
If I experience such lag that I can’t shoot someone, I log off and look for a better one… And whatever the body type of the guy is, it’s will still be hard to shoot at.

I don’t know, has it? I guess I’m proud of it for some reason now.

I’m just responding to the guy who says he can lead guys during lag.

Logging off and looking for a better one doesn’t mean the problem goes away, it is just there for someone else who hasn’t.

(Humate) #88

Apparently theres a move you can pull on heavies…slide tackle + melee.
Given lights have the advantage in smart, seems like a nice plus for that bodytype.

(JeP) #89

Sorry it was more meant to be a joke than offensive, cause your sentence
“you have not experienced true lag” sounds pretty funny to me

I began my statement with, “Lag not being an issue,” meaning, if there is no lag, lights will not be impossible to hit. I guess I miss read what you wrote. My bad.

Also, if the lag was that bad, I’m going to drop and search for a new game with a better connection.

Do you mean this a move you can do when are playing as a heavy character, or is it an anti-heavy move?

(MF Maou) #92

People said the same thing about Elf vs. Troll. I still get a laugh out of it.

(Bridger) #93

Sure, humans can laugh at that imbalance, they get the best of both worlds. Except the mortality thing.

(JeP) #94

And success with chicks.

Troll aren’t playing fair on that terrain though.

(II Captain K II) #95

I can’t believe there’s actually an argument about which takes more skill. Of course heavies can be useful. Anyone who says otherwise needs their brains checked. But they take way less skill to be good with. Heavies are always the noob friendly class. There is no way to argue that they take more skill, they are just too easy to use. Its wqhy everyone hates them, they are an icon of noobisheness.

(H0RSE) #96

This post is an icon of noobishness.

(Linsolv) #97

I think I made a pretty solid argument above. For a Heavy to be cost-effective in upper-level play they need to have better awareness and play more efficiently than the equivalently effective Light. You, on the other hand, throw around some insults and then declare the argument won. Insulting.

You must become that before you stand a chance.

Quick Recap.

To be good at Brink one needs
-Situational Awareness
-Good Marksmanship
-Being able to react on a short notice.

Light Characters:
-Fast
-Jump Higher
-Small guns/low Health

Heavy Characters
-Slow
-Fat
-Big Guns/Big health

Therefor, Light characters take more skill because they need not anticipate enemy paths, because they can beat them there. They require more marksmanship skill because SMGs shoot in a nice pretty line with low recoil, and the snipers deal massive damage with superior range. They require more skill because they are more reactive than heavys because they are so fast. They can be anywhere they are needed.

Heavys require less skill because they can’t be everywhere at once and need to think about where they are needed. Heavys require less skill because their guns often have support roles rather than killing people. They require less marksmanship because they have access to grenade launches that have a set fuse and require adjustments for gravity. They require less skill because it is harder for them to be where they are needed or escape enemy fire.

Sounds about right?
