Silence

(.FROST.) #1

I just thought, maybe, just maybe the upcoming (final?)patch is bigger than some might think, plus it features stuff that SD didn’t announced. Maybe they learned from the last “DLC announcement disaster”. Maybe that’s why they remain so silent about the release and the particular content(besides weapons tweaks/balance). In all honesty how can anyone believe that it actually takes them so long to balance the weapons anew? Since they have this tool to tweak the weapons on the fly it makes it even more unbelievable that that is all they do. I’d bet they put in some nice little candy in the upcoming patch. You can nay-say me as long as you want but I still hope and wait for the SDK.

Maybe they think now, that it’s better to slowly re-attract old and new players with a solid gold status game. As opposed to build up infinite tension that culminates in a post-release community explosion wich cooles down pretty fast.

for pc’s atleast i wish they would have the standard mode there for the people that still play and enjoy their BRINK but then also a TRUE “oldskool” mode with different health, different damage, and higher accuracy with a more “manual” feel to some of the weapons. who knows.

(badman) #3

The weapon tweaks are part of the next game update because they go beyond simple netvar changes on the PC - there’s some pretty substantial retooling that’s happening there based on everyone’s feedback. That next game update, in turn, is tethered to the clan update, which is pretty comprehensive in itself. So there’s a lot of moving parts that all need to be lined up for this one.

(coolstory) #4

Why release everything together? Why not open up a Brink beta like tf2 beta or css beta? And see how people like the weapon tweaks so far?

Also please give us more cvars to make custom huds and increase fps, like getting rid of 3d sky, post process etc.

Sry, Badman a clan update? For what? Make no sence for me. No clans left in Brink. You should better save manpower and money for your next titel.

RIP Brink

I’d suggest releasing the part of the next patch that addresses the inability to play online as a hotfix before that, it’s rather sad that some of us haven’t been able to play online for a month without further feedback from tech support.

… At least, you did fix it, right?

The money and manpower allocated to Brink is funded separately from any other projects they would be working on I think. This upcoming update is most likely part of their post release support contract or so, I’d rather they still fix what went wrong regardless, they will learn from it and know what to do the first time around next time.

Can’t wait for the Clan Support. Brink will be even more fun!

^agree
At least we might get a few semi-compeditive games more often

haven’t been on in a few weeks+ (DE:HR and DI had something to do with that), but looking to jump back in when the next patch comes through. take your time, get it right…I’ll play off/on between now and then, but figure most of us (us = people who play semi-regularly) + most of them (people who play on occasion) will jump back in en masse to check out the changes.

(Oschino1907) #11

@VG_JUNKY, right there with you, took a break for a while once Dead Island came out and beat that twice but last week/this weekend I hopped back onto Brink and mostly full games for hours on end with plenty of “newer” players looking for groups like ours. LOL at how easy it is to crush the randoms when you have a group of decent players with mics but it def gets intense when you get teamed up players on both sides (like back in june-aug). A lot of people still excited and waiting for the clan support and it helps keep me positive about the Ps3 community, the “newer” players that are around now are loving the game the same way we all do and some have even started their own Clubs/Clans/Websites with their Brink friends. We might not have millions of players but we have an awesome tight close nit community better then most any game I have ever played before. Cant wait for the updates!!!

(Crytiqal) #12

And who are you going to scrim against with the clan support?
Can’t you scrim against other “clans” without a brink clan website? lol!

(tokamak) #13

Because Valve.

(Darksider) #14

With the next update, I’ll come back and play it out, hopefully there is more than just the weapons re-tooling in the next update.

They don’t have IRC on consoles.

Thinking about it though, didn’t they make their own forums/site to organise matches on already?

Had tons of cool moments and have become part of a close-knit community of like-minded dudes. Its been a fun trip so far.

lots of clunky workarounds (ps3 chatrooms, message boards, etc). it will be interesting to see if easy facilitation lends itself to a bit more organization in terms of matchmaking/challenges/etc. Hopefully that means more people, especially those who are polished in gameplay basics (i.e. actually working on the objective, understand the basic tactics that are available in brink, etc)…

(Codine) #18

I really want to get back into Brink but SD has given me 0 reasons to do so. Clan support will not bring this game back, nor will weapon tweaks…

I can’t believe how fast this game died. What makes it worse is that Brink was the #1 game I was hyped for this year. I guess I’ll just stick with Red Orchestra 2. At least tripwire can release patches on time and acknowledge that they’ve made mistakes and will fix them…
