sick6 newb's feedback post. Is it that time again?
The dozen of french players I play with agree with newb’s post, +the recent complaints about crotzni nerf +THE ****ING MUZZLEFLASH AND BLOOD +the gib while revived nonsense but aren’t vocal about it in forums etc
I guess we aren’t alone and you can find this for other “competitive” communities
But yea when we all leave because you casualised the game to a non-return point, there will still be a nice competitive scene made of cod and battlefield players that wont mind all that bull**** and you won’t miss us.
Honestly, the ‘competative’ can GFTS, as they always tried to make the game less fun for everybody, but themselves and their über-mouse and hardware skillz.
Dirty Bomb has been casualized. This game and it’s gameplay are not meant to be casual. SD said it multiple times and want to make a competitive game. But they listen to casual players and not competitive players that play comp’ FPS for 14 years like me.
So yes, we have a good vision of what a good competitive game should be. If you think that it’s less fun to have a good competitive game, go play Call of Duty then !
yah, 'cause we all know it was comp that made W:ET not the couple hundred thousand ordinary players
Too bad the comp dudes can’t come up with anything better then a more ****ty game. I want more of the the ETQW vibe, not the ‘I play’ed comp in ‘93’, please! (Although that would be preferred, to the ‘I turned pro in 2008’ish’ ****ing’ vibe!)
Im not entirely certain what you are on about but you were the guy to argue that comp players are asking to gate the game behind a massive system spec requirement which is in fact the opposite of whats going on.
Also I dont quite see how people who properly dive into the game and its mechanics are not infitely more qualified to judge things like balance.
Pub players will come and go… mostly go actually when the initial hype is over. Having the game be intriguing and challenging is what will keep the game alive and the f2p business modell viable in the long run.
If you are honestly asking to dumb down the game for the masses you will have a generic f2p shooter that is forgotten in no time at all.
Difficulty and high skill ceiling does not mean alienating casual (as in "pub) players. You can just play every now and then and still enjoy a challenge.
If you dont there is already plenty of games out there for you.
I would like to think that competitive SW is the way to go forward anyway. No self-respecting and active CS player goes on the game to only play arms race. You go on and sign up for comp play, even if you are not a hardcore fanatic or in a clan.
the 4% will never have a clue about balancing the whole game, in W:ET rambo medic was the preferred playstyle
ET was based on RTCW and discontuined because the entire project got scrapped so we made due with what we have. Im pretty sure SD could have done some cool stuff with it.
We can fight over the specifics but in general a trend favouring competitive play is needed imo.

The entire project was not scrapped, the SP was scrapped and work on the MP continued until completion.
I think we couldn’t care less about the game being like ET or not. It’s all about skill and balance and what we complain about is unskilled or unbalanced. (IE; randomness, low risk high reward, etc).
afaik fishbone here plays only quakelive so moot point (lolol ET players lolol)
Something wrong dude? I posted a fact and corrected your inaccurate statement.
sigh One of those are you, here we go again.
Some of the people here that have been here for a long time (including myself) are some of SD’s harshest critics, you read this forum and see the occasional post or two then come to your little conclusion because my opinion differed from yours, now you’re slightly butthurt over something and pulling the ‘Dev arse kisser’ card which is just childish and petty. Anything I post is MY feelings and **** all to do with keeping on the SD’s good side. I see some choices they’ve made and logically and genuinely understand the reasoning, even when the ignorant amoung us don’t and whine because they don’t get their own way.
However… I’ve been in this game since the beginning, the very beginning, and the amount of debates, arguments and outright rages I’ve had with the devs puts your petty little sly comments and digs to shame. Smooth and Anti alone will surely confirm, in the Founders forum and the VIP IRC channel I’ve made my feelings very known on some of the choices they’ve made, I’ve been up to 3am arguing with Anti over design choices we disagree on, posted some VERY harsh criticism on the direction the game is taking and debated reasoning, stance, potential, outcome and the future till we’ve both thrown our keyboards in disgust and moved on, so stop using your closed little bubble on this single forum to come to your bull**** conclusion of me because we disagreed on something quite passionately.
I did the same with Brink, I did the same with ETQW, and after DB is gone and they’ve moved on I’ll do the same with their next game, and the reason I’ll do that is because I like the guys so damn much and I don’t want to see their hard work fail because of poor design choices. I’ve known various guys at SD for a long time now, gamed with them, speak with them regulary about more than games, met them in person and they’re all genuine nice guys that work hard and deserve to do well… what kind of an asshole would it make me if I just agreed and cheered for everything they did even if I thought it was wrong?
So yes mate, in the 12 years I’ve been here, I’ve had a metric ****-ton of critical things to say about SD.
BTW, Splash Damage continued working on W:ET for years on their own dime and that included 2.55, 2.60 and 2.60b
the early comp scene consisted of mostly disgruntled RTCW players who only converted because everyone was playing W:ET, I’ve here almost as long as Dark and have also been involved with DB since Nov 2012, long before the vocal minority of reddit rangers, same thing happened with W:ET the comp whiners went to whine(X)fire and the other 400,000+ went to enemy-territory.com
Im not entirely certain even you can believe most of what you are writing. You are always being utterly condescending. In the first parapgraph alone you called me butthurt, childish, petty, ignorant and a whiner. You assume that I jump to conclusions but I asked you a question and if I have ever seen a butthurt reply it must be the one you just gave.
The second paragraph would have been sufficient if it wasnt for you trying to display your self absored attitude rather than making an actual point. I did in fact notice that you are mostly arguing on behalf of currently implemented systems and balance decisions and if that little “dig” upsets you thats fair enough but it doesnt justify your constant aggression. You want to argue passenionately? Be my guest but currently you are only you making yourself look like a ranting little kid.
When it comes to the actual dicussion on the game you never encourage any reasonable arguments as you are always completely categorical which in pretty much all cases actually hinders finding reasobale compromises.
If you have as much impact on the devs as you make it out to be, maybe you should step back, evaluate the success they had with their games so far and then rethink voicing that utterly one sided stuff you call an oppinion.
Really have better things to do than get assaulted over a perfectly civil post.
Just want the same 3 people circle jerk of SDs games? Want to ignore all input that doesnt agree with your personal oppinion? Worked well in the past.

Reddit is a good place for the comp scene, lots of honest debate there
