I agree with the suggested sniper change and everything else, too. Really wish SD would hurry to implement this stuff (and add an option to buy the full game with all mercs at a reasonable price :slight_smile: ).

One more thing: With all the general complaints about chain-revives, especially on Sparks, I’d like to suggest adding a 3-5 seconds cooldown to all paddles/revive guns after reviving OR making it so each specific player could only be revived with invulnerability every 3-5 seconds. So if you revive a player they get their invulnerability thingy, but every revive after that this player has to have been alive for at least 3-5 seconds before getting an invulnerable revive again.

I think this would also help mitigate the suggested sniper change here.

Agree with everything. Sadly, noncompetitive people don’t see the problem with vasilii and I don’t think they will ever get it until presented with a competitive situation where they face a good sniper. Vasilii is ridiculously OP atm.

I’m going to keep on disagreeing with this because sniper is a fragging merc (it is all he can do), and he is on par with fragger (the other fragging merc) in terms of fragging ability, I don’t really see him as OP

imo only problem with vas is that all the mercs that counter him (thunder phantom and red eye) arent in the game

thunder wont be able to reach him with his conc nades unless you’re talking about being able to tank 1 headshot which means he would be left on 10hp , phantom wont do much because his invis will run out before getting to him, red eye might but SD needs to lock the command to turn off explosions so the smoke is visible again

thunder can tank the headshot yes, then a healer could heal him right up
phantom will be able to get past a vasili, killing him isn’t necessary because he’s useless if he sees no one
red eye can smoke him out, pretty obvious, and can also kill him effectively from afar

this is why i really dislike the way SD are handling releasing mercs that have been ready for a while, balancing the game when counters aren’t in yet is retarded

Fragger can’t instagib 5 people. Hardly ever more than one, for that matter, due to the extreme nerfs to explosive gibs.

my thoughts exactly, red eye is at best a counter-sniper; hiding in a smoke at a long distance away.

phantom seems hardcountered by vassili actually, heartbeat sensor could easily cover a major choke

Redeye has a… red eye, can’t imagine it being hard for a good sniper player to take him out through the smoke when he can spot the big red dot. The other “counters” are just laughable. They require massive teamwork from 2 or more players only to take on a sniper. That just proves how OP the sniper really is.

im pretty sure they removed the red eye, either way the point is that he can smoke off the vasili and vasili won’t be able to snipe people through smoke (doesn’t just help red eye)

don’t see how phantom and thunder need good teamwork, phantom goes invis and runs past the angle vasili is watching, thunder tanks a headshot, pretty hard

How to counter a good sniper:

A) Be good at sniping yourself/have a good sniper

B) Have good game sense; know what the"popular" angles and spots that snipers usually use are. I find it really funny that most of the people here who claim that Vassili is beyond broken have the worst movement and game sense in the business! They just slow peak corners and get their heads poped off, then come to the forums to whine about it… Great game sense and a feel for how snipers play can go a long way; I find myself (in comp matches/scrims) rarely getting domed in the head, and if I do it’s usually as a result of a poor decision I made (peeking a dumb angle/running out in the open like a dumbass.

C) Crouch spam! I can’t tell you enough that artier is the hardest fragger to hs in a straight up 1v1, because of how well he can duel a sniper in a 1v1 with his crouch spamming alone.

D) Shoot at the sniper - to induce aimpunch of course! Combined with crouch spamming, aimpunch makes dueling snipers fairly easy; I can’t recall the amount of times that I have won a straight up 1v1 (as sniper) vs any class. The majority of my kills are on people that aren’t shooting at me.

E) Use ADS at long ranges. It’s fairly self-explanatory, but some people refuse to ever use ADS - to the point where they unbind right click - and as a result, they find themselves incapable of ever dueling a sniper out in the open.

It’s not that hard m8s.

People sure do love to hate on snipers…

Let’s nerf the sniper and have another merc which isn’t used in competitive. Lets just play sawbones, bushwhacker and fragger. A very similar META to ET right oxy? :wink:

Who is not used in comp games? I always use mercs like proxy or sawbones which i really like but other people say that they are very bad mercs.
