no offense to bani and crew, whom i love, but i just don’t have faith that a handfull of volunteers can tackle the cheating problem as effectively as a dedicated corporation with several lucrative contracts.

better to use the two in conjunction, along with the other anticheat tools available. a multi-pronged strategy is best.

You truely have no idea do you?? ETPro Anti Cheat 3.2.X is currently the BEST in combating cheaters effectively in ET, while you can use multiple cheats on PB servers and never get detected. the only reason why i have PB still running is because of their kick/ban system.

Serious again, PB truely only catches a small margin of all cheats out there, ETPro IZAC deals with them all currently. I was amazed like you are now when i discovered PB just catches a very few and that for a dedicated corporation with several lucrative contracts!!! (sarcasm)

and for the record i’m running PB + latest ETPro IZAC db + MBL on all my servers all on FreeBSD/Linux brought to me by a handful of volunteers! cheers m8 :drink:

how you translated this into an opensource/closedsource debate is beyond me. this is about man-hours and resources. you completely ignorant twit.

no augmentation needed, you are obviously not clued in to human nature. i implied that most players enjoy the security-blanket PB provides. nevermind whether or not you think it is a placebo effect - the fact remains that people want to feel safe. my pointing out that you seem unaware of this truth needs no further discussion, as it stands on it’s own and is quite apparent.

can you please provide statistical documentation to augment your PB percentage claims? as i understand it, from speaking with them directly, they are in fact quite actively working on the issue (gee willickers, what an earth-shattering statement that is! an anticheat company focusing on anticheat technology! who woulda thunkit?!)

Well no need to get rude here, i just commented on the weak few arguments you wrote.

Why wouldn’t you have faith in a handfull of volunteers? there’s plenty of software writen by volunteers which have proven themself to be even more useful then their ‘commercial’ competitors. Like ETPro IZAC has proven itself to be more reliant and capable of combating cheaters.

i have tested, and i continue to do so.
i have faith in the ABILITIES of the etpro team, what i don’t have faith in is their capability to handle such a massive undertaking on a part-time volunteer basis. this is why i said, a combination of things is the best approach. let the etpro AC fill in the gaps left by PB.

i fail to see how i’m ignorant, but the fact that i am ignorant of my own ignorance might in fact demonstrate how ignorant i am…

I seriously doubt EB spends much time and resources on ET specific cheats, but I agree that having both IAC and PB is better than having just one of them (even teh bani said so if I’m not mistaken).

PB has a pretty terrible record for people who are getting paid full time to do what they do. Hopefully they clean up their act one of thse days :confused:
