I uploaded shrub to my clanserver and started messing with it, when me and a mate were checking the prone hitboxes and i headshotted him, he said he only lost 5 HP (and it sure was an HS, helmet flew). Standard damage was taken in crouch or stand positions. Anyone else noticed this?

Helmet absorbs damage from the first head shot, so that it only inflicts standard damage. Scoped rifles and (i think) the MG42 are unaffected. Every shot afterwards to the noggin will inflict far more damage.

Should still do more than 5 damage (40 with SMG). Have a look at RTCW 4 Dummies.
I believe what he’s saying is that this is a feature of the shrub mod and it is intentional
I believe what I’m saying is that I’ve found nothing about this in the Shrub readme, which means it’s either forgotten or unintentional. :eek2:
On the other hand g_helmetDamage 5 is default in Shrub RtCW, so it wouldn’t surprise me. It would however make me really pissed. 
cant say i’m a fan either, since it punishes for good aim, and decreases chances of being able to take out a PF player youve caught unawares, before he can point+click splat you. easily the worst feature for shrub to have changed as default imo (esp. if undocumented), and something i would definately want put back as default on my servers.
The 5HP goes all the way back to when the shrub code was only designed for OLTL (One Life To Live) play. No panzers about, it did realy work well with 5HP head shot damage on the first shot.
But for ULTL then not so good I would think 
well, if you think about it, in real life – if a bullet hits your iron helmet, it would severely disorient you and keep you from fighting back at all, so a headshot is pretty much as effective in the matter that you have someone that it would be a kill without letting them hurt you. this info is taken from a cousin of mine who was in a war, and got shot in the helmet… it knocked him out cold for an hour
Not much point wearing the helmet in the first place if you if you dont benefit from it’s protection. Would be nice if you could pick it up again. (Governed by time limit). Run back to it and over it, to put it back on. Leave for more than 15 secs it dissapears.
I can assure you all shrub did NOT change anything relating to headshots or headshot damage or hitboxes at all for ET. The helmet absorbs 20hp on the first headshot in normal ET and that is still the way it works with shrub.
If it absorbs 20 HP he did change it. With most weapons in standard ET only absorbs 10. Older versions of Iffys page had this wrong.

It still absorbs the 10/20hp then, whatever, I never really paid attention to how it worked, but I know its the same with or without shrub. The body hitbox IS lowered for prone and corpses, but the head headbox remains in the same location always and does the same damage as before.
I still have nightmares about the time I played on a server with leg damage enabled. :disgust:
