Show AMMO CRATES on the MINIMAP!!!!

It’s annoying at first but as you learn the levels you will remember where those stationary crates are.

If you find you’re running out of ammo quickly you’ve also got the option of three mercs who can dish it out: Kira, Skyhammer and Arty.

This is coming up because they were all move to more neutral locations or removed completely.

I like the changes, but having to track them all down again and memorize that is a little tricky. We actually had a fight over an ammo container last night ^.^

yeah showing ammo stations is kind of nice…especially if they dlete them or move them in future.

Yeah but what’s the point? It’s not like it takes skill to remember where the ammo locations are so they may as well just have them on the minimap.

If you don’t regard map knowledge as a skill I don’t think you’ve been playing FPS games long enough.
The spawn points aren’t marked on the map either but it helps immensely to know where the enemy will be spawning.

Might as well disable the HUD then, going by this logic.

If there was an option to I wouldn’t mind. It would make the screen a lot less cluttered. Or servers with the mini-map disabled. Situational awareness would play a much bigger part then.

I prefer games that let you figure stuff out, like the location of ammo crates, for yourself, rather than spoonfeeding you.

That is not logic. You are talk bogus. Wisdom and knowledge is often part of a competition and therefore a valid skill to test. Different games and sport test them in different ways. The question is not, if map knowledge is a skill, but if you want to test it.
A skillful player knows all the trick jumps. Do you want to see nice targets on the walls where to jump? Do you want all the possible shortcuts to be shown as well?

I am okay with crates on the map with possibility to shut them off, so everybody, who knows them, can have a clean minimap.

So first you call me “talk bogus”, then you agree? Oh ok.

(TheSuperSheriff) #11

It can’t be a bad idea to show ammo crate on the HUD or/and the minimap.

We have already seen that crate can be delete or moved, it will be easier to find them in their new localisation by that way.

I agree

(Glot) #12

Minimap is useless now. but adding ammocrates there can make it a little bit more useful.

(Aazhyd) #13

Thing is, I still occassionaly walk into an area where I expect an ammo crate, but it has gone. My brain has set that location as “ammo!”.

(MyPingIsHuge) #14

The minimap rotating is what makes it trully useless to me. How can i coordinate with my team if i dont know which way is north?

(MyPingIsHuge) #15

bump

Map knowledge is necessary to have good movement, positioning, coordination with your team, etc but getting map knowledge, in my opinion isn’t usually a skill. In some cases it is, like being able to see a wall jump or trick jump path that most people just see as a regular path, but usually it’s just memorizing locations. What you do with your map knowledge takes skill and good decision making but simply memorizing a layout doesn’t take skill.

I played BF3 competitively for xts/elevate for a while so yes I’m very familiar with the importance of memorizing spawn locations (and spawn order on flags in the case of cq small) but even I don’t think it’s a skill. It’s just something you have to do, something everyone does, and most importantly, it’s something anybody can do perfectly, no matter how bad they are at FPS games, if they take a few minutes to memorize the pattern.

The only reason I said it may as well be on the minimap is because there’s plenty of room on the minimap for it, it would really help out new players who are unfamiliar with the maps and don’t know how to play maps offline, and because it’s not like it’ll hurt the game for it to be there. The position of the ammo crates isn’t supposed to be a secret after all and at the competitive level everyone knows where the ammo crates are anyway.

(melodicStroll) #18

I think they should add them to the mini map. It’s only hurting new players trying to find ammo locations when none of your teammates are playing an ammo dropping class.

(Uriei) #19

Or they refuse to drop ammo

(MyPingIsHuge) #20

^ exactly.
