shoutcaster
Favourite caster of mine is hands down Tosspot. He could make any match, no matter what it was about and who were playing it seem interesting.
Favourite duo: 2GD and Joe. Joe with his ability to commentate on what was happening all over the place and 2GD with his very in depth analysis of what each team/player was doing.
Fubar, a.k.a. Oxy the most underrated overrated Enemy Territory played ever, has some good points though. Warwitch is great at shoutcasting and at creating a “show” but you need someone next to him to ensure a high enough quality of cast.
You should also get some more competitive players in here. A lot of people will only talk about what annoys them or what they think is unbalanced while forgetting the “bigger picture”. Players who have played on a high enough level tend to be more accurate and will shove aside their personal feelings a lot quicker. This would result into feedback that would really help your game become the next competitive hit, as opposed to another public-friendly copy of Battlefield.
Edit: The current spawning system is anti-competitive. Fixed recurring spawntimes and a visible spawntimer would help a lot.
Kevin.
Valid complaints but I disagree. I think I’ve struck a good balance in bringing in top players who can talk about all the very important elements in the game that I might miss. I put my focus on action, comedy, document grabs and defusing. I leave the tactical talk to my co-casters. With my current setup I’m controlling the game cam, the music, the audio, the war-rooms (sometimes when Sabo isn’t around), monitoring chat in channel etc etc. It’s very easy to get distracted. That’s why having others around me is very important.
Not to mention his random German expressions and incomprehensible mutterings whenever he gets excited isn’t something everyone takes a liking in. I’d love him as a co-caster, perhaps, for entertainment purposes, but leave the proper commentating to the people that have kept active in the past 10 years and actually know, a tiny bit, of what they’re talking about.
I had no plans in porting the “Axis Shoutcaster” into Extraction. That’s just a show for Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I guess you missed the point in my doing the silly German “mutterings”, heh. As far as co-casting goes, in a way I already consider myself a co-caster, or perhaps just a host. I think when it comes to providing a high energy pulse to a game very few people can beat what I do. I plan to pair myself with top notch players who can provide color commentary. Regardless, I don’t expect to be the premier Extraction broadcaster (if I cast at all). I’m sure many talented people will cover the game should things go as planned. I’ll just be doing my own thing and those who enjoy it can watch and enjoy the show.
IMO someone like Warwitch is good to have around simply because he is willing to provide services regardless of the popularity of a game and appears to be very community oriented. It’s all about enjoying and supporting the game and not just covering the big esports events. Like he said, those that are interested can watch so no reason to discourage the guy.
I think this thread has really taken a weird turn, but I’d like to chime in and say I became involved in competitive gaming post-Warwitch so I never really lived through his prolific days. However, I’ve listened to his commentary from back then and loved it. I’ve tuned into the RTCW casts he had been doing in the last year and enjoyed them thoroughly.
I don’t like Warwitch because of his talent or because of his knowledge (although he definitely has both!!!) but because of the experience he creates for a viewer. I feel nostalgic watching and listening to his broadcasts because he creates that feeling. I’m really excited to be working with him in Extraction (although he doesn’t know it yet).
what else have you casted warwitch, people say your a big name but until recently i’ve never heard of you
Yeah, but that’s just the problem. You get the wrong people, unfortunately. Apart from Merlinator, and even he has not given much of a detailed and tactical insight into the game, at the very least though he’ll point out important individual actions you’re very likely to miss, which is great. But! And I understand that it’s a very hard thing to do given that at any given time you’re essentially trying to follow 12 viewers, all the while hosting your show… My one advise, if you and the majority of your co-hosters, will want to sound more credible… Focus more on play-by-play casts, essentially a lot easier, more game oriented and you won’t make humongous calls on “tactical” decisions a player may have or may not have done, which from a more understanding point of view makes you guys sound nothing but silly.

I meant no offense what-so-ever, I enjoy the SHOW you host. To me it’s fun, it’s entertaining and you’ve got this amazing radio voice I’m willing to listen to on a daily basis, I was generally speaking, not many people will/would like it. German mutterings, mutterings may being the wrong word, is really just how I perceive your attempts of speaking German, as I’m fluent in the language and… it really doesn’t sound much more than a muttering. Anyhow, as said, I enjoy the show, you’ve done a great thing for the community, you and nail especially, I just really, really wish you’d not get as many of these “american players” onto your cast and have more people that are actually experienced and good in the game join you. Try owzo and Clown for starters - owzo especially with his casting background in both ET and Quake and I believe partially CS - they’ve both done it in ET as well, rather successfully so.
I do appreciate the support and the constructive criticism. There is always room for improvement, though in truth I think I produce a pretty fun and polished broadcast with the help of all my very talented co-casters.
It’s a bit strange to have my own thread here. This isn’t really about me. This is about everyone working together to help make Extraction the best game it can be! And while I may not grasp the in depth strats that many of you understand, I do have a very solid perspective on what will be needed to make this game successful from a spectator point of view.
He was a pretty big name back in the TSN days. I wasn’t around then, but I knew who he was when he wasn’t around. Check out this interview from 2004.

Well, I wouldn’t call myself a big name anymore, but back in the day I was pretty well known. My star was rising from 1999 to 2005. I casted Tribes, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Counterstrike (a bit), Call of Duty 2 and Painkiller for the CPL World Tour. I haven’t been doing much for a long time. I’ve just returned to casting in November of last year and I’ve been covering RTCW for the love of the game. The current goal is to find a new title that I can really latch onto and expand with. I’ve worked with many of the most successful commentators working today and I salute them for their success!
I think I know one or two German words. Despite this I’ve built a persona as the Axis Shoutkasta which is somewhat ironic. It’s all a show for comedy and one I simply won’t be able to port to a game like Extraction. I’ve definitely had a good run with it though through RTCW and Call of Duty 2 shoutcasting.
And I’m not offended. Just defending myself against a few points I felt were a bit unfair. But you have good advice. Thank you!
But enough about me! Let’s talk Extraction. I need to start browsing these forums and taking in all this information. There’s A LOT to read.
Have you got the latest version? You should hop on the EvacZone TS3 with Potty & I later today if you’re available!
I will try. It’s been hard catching up with Potty because of the time zone difference and the weird hours I’m sleeping.
Ok, sounds good. I’ll hit Potty up on Facebook if I’m around at that time.
